If you've had it, what tips do you have and has it ever completely gone away?
It has been going on for about a month. I just took a wee off of running completely and my hips still hurt, but not horribly, just if I thought about it. I had a race last night and they are on fire.
I was planning to call the Dr. today, but Dr. Google tells me that all that is recommended is rest, ice and advil. I'd mot going to arrange and pay for a sitter to be told to rest. At the playground this am I ran into a mom who said she's had bursitis in her hips since she was 15 years old. Meaning it will always be a problem for me?? Yikes.
I don't have another race until late September, and I plan to swim and lift weights, lay off the running for a while.
I had it, I did a month of ice (5x/day, 20 min each no more) and Aleve (500mg 2x/day). After a month my hip didn't hurt anymore but I ended up in PT because it had pissed off my IT bands so badly that they needed some help. Glute strengthening exercises are key to preventing it from happening again.
I didn't stop running during PT/therapy. I haven't had a problem with my hip since.
