H and I want to do a mid-week summer get-away. I have tons of vacation time to burn but we don't want to spend that much money or go too far. we are not fans of driving long distances. Help me pick our get-away.
Block Island - one night, package with ferry tickets, dinner, breakfast, bike rentals & hotel comes to $360 -we have never been, its supposed to be beautiful, ferry terminal is like 30 minute drive for us
White Mountains, NH - could go for one or two nights, I found this deal: www.travelzoo.com/local-deals/Boston/Getaway/63213 -kind of a long drive for us, but we have been to this area before and its also pretty, I could also make H take me on the cog railroad up Mt. Washington which I haven't done since I was a kid
I am leaning towards Block Island because we have never been and its closer, but then I start to feel guilty that its much more expensive for one night than the others.
I voted for Block Island. It is more expensive, but it includes a lot of extras. Also, it is the closest to your house, so the cheapest for gas. So if you take the dinner, breakfast, bike rentals, and cheap gas into consideration, it will be closer in price to the other options.

Ok also ESF corrected me b/c I did an XP with MM. I was confusing Sturbridge and Stockbridge without looking at a map. That second choice is not actually in the Berkshires.
Block Island is fun and scenic but I love the Berkshires. (By the way, Sturbridge isn't the Berkshires so if you're interested in the Berkshires, try looking at Stockbridge, Lee, Lenox, Great Barrington, etc.) So much more to do there - Tanglewood, great shops and food, amazing art museums, antiques, mansion tours, spas, etc.
