Can someone give me a basic rundown of Napa? Where to stay/eat/etc? Links to other posts or info would be great too. I'm sure we have discussed this before but I'm having trouble searching on my phone.
Thinking of doing a girls trip over Labor Day weekend. 3 nights- is that enough?
My H and I went last year (in combination with our San Francisco trip). We are actually not big wine drinkers so we decided to start by touring one of the bigger wineries- Beringer. We had a tour and a tasting and enjoyed both.
We stayed at The Inn on First. It was awesome but probably not great for a girls weekend/better for a romantic weekend.
We ate at Boon Fly Cafe and really enjoyed our lunch there. We also ate dinner at Norman Rose Tavern and it was very good as well.
If you are willing to venture over to Sonoma, The Girl and the Fig was probably our best meal on our trip.
I think three days is enough for a girls weekend. There are things to do there other than taste wine and eat, but not tons so it could get dull after that. Also the fees and bottles start to add up, too. I have a bunch of blog posts about the area if you'd like to take a look, and I'm happy to try to answer any specific questions you have.
Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry, and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. Broad, wholesome, charitable views of men and things cannot be acquired by vegetating in one little corner of the earth all one's lifetime. Mark Twain
Thank you! This is helpful, and I have started making a document of notes.
RockNVoll, I think we will mostly be focusing on Napa. I love San Francisco, but have been there many times, and with just 3 days I don't think we will be in SF too much.
I agree about Peju. We've been there twice and will be going back next year with different friends. There are SO many wineries we want to try that Peju may be our only repeat. OK, maybe Ledson in Sonoma as well. We just drank the 2009 Sauv Blanc last Friday when we knew we'd be going back to buy another bottle:)
