DS's room has two oval shaped windows. They're different and I like them but since they're in his bedroom I need light control. My temporary solution has been a paper black-out shade but after living here for 10 months it's probably time to do something more permanent. I originally thought about plantation shutters and while I'm sure those would look the best, I don't think they'll block the light well enough. I hate to cover the shape of the windows but at this point I'm thinking I may have to. Would a regular roman shade mounted to the wall look horrible? If not, what color? Or does anyone have any other ideas?
ETA: that accent wall in the second pic is tan, not yellow. I plan to paint it navy like the rest of the room (these colors were from the previous owner)
I agree with pp, I would splurge on plantation shutters for the windows. Does he really need the room to be that dark? I'm betting the shutters would block a good amount of light when closed.
It never occurred to me to do both. Honestly plantation shutters aren't in the budget at the moment but will definitely be done at some point. He's only three so yes, it needs to be really dark, especially when he's crabby about having to go to bed when it's still light outside So I'm thinking about doing the roman shades for now in navy so that it just blends with the wall. I plan to mount them high enough so when they're open they aren't covering up the window frame. Does that sound ok?
