We just had our 15 month well visit.
DD is 24lb 7oz, DS is 27lb 12oz(!)
They are both the same height at 32 inches, but because of their weight, DD is higher percentile for height at 82%.
So here's my question...since DS isn't walking yet, our NP referred us to the ortho group we saw for their plagiocephally. (we had helmets!) She said they like to see kids at 15 months to rule out any issues.
Has anyone that has a non-walker seen a specialist yet? What can I expect from this appointment?
I kind of want to give it another week to see, but at the same time, I am a little concerned about his ankles. He walks with one finger, walks along furniture, crawls great, and will stand unassisted for a couple seconds.
I'm surprised they're sending you! Our doc said it's totally normal for them not to walk at this age and J's feet turn out, which she also said is normal.

I'm surprised they're sending you too, but it's a good thing! You'll get tips on how to help him advance and how can that be bad, right?
Violet has been in PT and OT for a while and is starting speech soon. It's scary to see specialists but all that can happen are good things. He will be walking eventually, try not to worry!

No referral here either. Our doctor wasn't concerned in the slightest and would just revisit the issue at 18 months. I think as long as he is moving around and making progress towards that, no worries.
DD just started walking last week on her own but the pedi had mentioned he'd make a referral at 18 months if she still wasn't walking. It sounds like he is SO close! He just needs to do it once and then I bet he'll be off and running.

Same here. And Henry took his first steps just a few weeks after his 15 month appointment. It can't hurt to see a specialist, but I am surprised your pedi is concerned already.

Julian JUST started walking last week...on his 15 month bday...idk I don't think it's a big deal i wouldn't worry for a coupl more months, but you should check if your doctor recommends it, just to be sure.

Sophia started taking steps a couple weeks after, too!

This gives me anxiety. Christian just turned 16 months on the 23rd and isn't independently walking. If I told you I wasn't concerned I would be lying. Waahhh!
Our pedi voiced concern at Madison's 15 month appointment and thought we should pursue PT. I was surprised because I had always heard 18 months. However, whenever the pedi expresses concern, Madison waits a week and then starts doing what she is supposed to. Just last Tuesday she started taking some steps. She still prefers to crawl and isn't 'walking' yet but she's on her way. I say give him some time.
