Ughhhh waaaahhhhh
After much debating, I ended up with a Skip Hop bag (cannot find a link, and too lazy to PIP mine right now, I can PIP later; it was limited edition, French striped, simple, decent price) I rec'd it months ago and never really loved it but since I am opting to carry both a purse and my diaper bag around, I didn't choose to go with the nice Storksak that I REALLY wanted. That one was $240.
The diaper bag is simple, seems large enough though now I have doubts, and is wipeable, so easy to clean. It compliments the stroller, and was like $70?? Maybe??? At any rate, I just am not too excited over it, and it's too late to return it, so I suppose I'll have to use it, but it's looking smallish to me now, though reviewers said it was roomy enough and they loved it.
I don't know why this is an issue. I don't know what to do...because the only other damn bag I'd want is the Storksak...and that is just plain absurd to me. I know a bunch of people got Kate Spade's on sale here...so I know most of you ladies understand wanting a nicer bag.
Bleh. I could just stick with the dumb bag I have and buy myself another Fossil purse so I feel better. (Somehow this would make me feel better, shut up) but I cannot think what the "best" choice is here. Stick w what I've got knowing it's practical and not a bank-breaker (and it IS cuteish and I like Skip Hop as a brand) or say eff that noise and try to find one I LOOOVE. Or buy a new purse for no reason. lol HALP

Is there room in your budget for the Storksak? Or could you try and sell the one you have on Craigslist to help recoup some of the costs, then get the Storksak?
Honestly, it sounds like you've been thinking about this for a while so I would get it. Otherwise you'll continue to dwell on it and wishing you had it. I would just bite the bullet.
ETA - and after seeing PP, yes, check ebay and craigslist and the like. You might be able to find a decent used one.

I think people tend to put way to much thought into diaper bag. If you like it and it works for you get it or keep it. I will also say around 6-9 months I usually downsize to a small bad with just the basics. I get sick of lugging the big bag around.

I think its cute and looks well made. I would test to see if all of your stuff will fit because I wouldn't want to deal with a bag that is too small. I bit the bullet and got the Storksak I wanted. It's huge and heavy but I love it. It fits all the crap I could ever want or need and it looks nice. I bought a PPB but had buyers remorse and sold it on Craigslist for pretty much what I paid for it. I tried imagining carrying it around and just wasn't happy. I know that's probably no help but that is what I did.

This is where I'm at. I just registered for something that looks normal and practical, and wasn't expensive. I didn't even think twice about it.

If you do want to get rid of it let me know how much you'd want for it... that was the one I was wanting to get. My only hesitation was I didn't know if it would have enough space for twins / twice the stuff.
Realistically, what are you going to put in the bag anyway that you need tonnes of space?!? After a few months I downsized. Why? Cos I could never find what I needed in the bigger bag, when I needed it.
For a newborn going out and about for a few hours here's what you generally need: 3 Diapers & wipes etc (but get small containers of ointments) Change of clothes (their clothes are tiny...) Maybe an extra vest If formula feeding, bottle & formula burp cloths/bibs/muslin Antibacterial handwash
You don't need their entire wardrobe in there. You have to carry the bag, as well as the baby and your purse. Keep it simple.
So, if you are second guessing because of the size - don't. What you have looks like a good size. And it's cute!
Well is you only issue you think it is too small or do you not like the way it looks/feels etc? If it is the first, keep it. It looks roomy enough to take what you need and some extras. If you don't like it because it is not you than get rid of it, you shouldn't keep anything that you don't like.

Yup.
The diaper bag ended up being so insignificant after the first couple months. Sure, at first you pack EVERYTHING when you go somewhere with babe, because you really do need a change of clothes for them, and a bottle, and burp rags, etc etc. But eventually you don't need to lug along so many things at once.
I think I switched to a small tote bag at around 6 months, and would carry that in addition to my purse. By the time he was a year or so (and still to this day), I carry only my purse with his things in it (an extra diaper, a few wipes, his epi pen, and three matchbox cars).

THANKS GUYS. I really appreciate the perspectives...and for now I think I will "test" it as pp suggested and see how it fits all the stuff I think I need. Lucille Bluth I will certainly keep you in mind if I do decide to get another one!!
And it's reassuring to hear that you all think it's cute! I'm def into bags. Very much so. But I only buy Fossil bags, so maybe that's why I can't "love" this one?? I keep wishing Fossil would make women's luggage and baby bags. I think I'd have dropped whatever amount for a Fossil diaper bag.
Anyways, thanks again. I needed the second-time moms' words of wisdom especially I think, since you've all been there done that. But hugs to all, this petty issue was reaalllly bothering me! haha
I agree that the bag is cute and seems like it has plenty of space for what you need -- a few diapers, wipes, diaper cream, burp cloth, nursing cover or bottles, and an extra outfit. Plus, Skip Hop is a great brand, one of the more practical out there.
I just bought my second Skip Hop for this baby. I was eyeing some more expensive bags and opted instead for two less expensive bags. I'd much rather splurge on a new purse once we're done with diaper bags anyway.

I am kind of feeling this way...deep down I just want a new purse for mama, not baby I *think*...I'm going to try filling it with crap now that I have some bottles and diapers to pretend with...
Which storksak did you want? I effing love mine. I think it depends on you - I'm a huge handbag person, and I wanted to make sure the bag I'd be carrying for the next year or so was one I'd love, that didn't look too much like a DIAPER BAG. I actually have two more, as well Maybe I'll never switch them out, but any of them can be used as larger handbags, too.
listen, almost everyone i know who HAD a fancy/expensive diaper bag got all "fuck it" and bought a skip hop bag when their kid was like 3 months anyway.
i had a kate spade outlet bag on sale that i stubbornly continued to use until i didn't need a diaper bag anymore, and i coveted the zip top/wipeability/small size/lightweight features of the skip hop.
oh, and when i was out with the family and wanted to look cute, i just carried my regular purse and made my husband use HIS diaper bag (a diaper dude messenger style in black).

The aubrey in black was my first choice. Or the elizabeth in grey. Or sofia in taupe even.
But. I think people have made valid points about the bag I already have. And I suppose if I despise it after using it, I can always "upgrade". I think I'm just being pouty because, as I mentioned before, I usually only carry Fossil bags, so having a bag that isn't one feels strange. Don't ask me why I think this feeling would be alleviated if I had a storksak...skiphop IS a good brand for baby things. And as KKD says, I can then buy myself a new bag...cuz mama cares more than baby, kwim?

Listen to the practical people. My answer will always be to buy another bag, diaper or otherwise
