If you are looking into one or are plain interested, come to me. I will give you the low down about agencies. There are many, many scammers out there and I wouldnt want ANY of you to be scammed cause I have a lot of love for many of you.

So many mums I know have signed up their kids with agents. Not one has ever been called for work in the last 3-4 years I have known them. I wonder if there are just too many babies/kids?!

There is an influx of kids with agents! monkeybabe I think the Portland agents are off their rocker though. Zoe is all kinds of cute.

I think they are legit ladybug ! If you dont feel happy with their work, look into another one. If you could get into William Morris or Endeavor... you would be set. Those are the top of the top. The creme de la creme. The hardest to get into. lol.

See this is what upsets me about this whole agent business.  Gorgeous, adorable kids don't get called because they don't fit the exact type of kid they are looking for.  And some mothers (not necessarily you, ladybug, I'm talking about the mums I know IRL) will get hurt and offended thinking their kid is being "rejected".  It's such a superficial thing and I don't like it at all.

I did some modelling as a child/teen and I know it affected my self-image in a negative way.  Not criticising anyone here, just venting a bit

@starbound The reason I personally wont be putting Wy into film/ acting/ modelling is because of the negativity. With working in film for so long, there has never been a film set that I havent felt sorry for the kids on it. It is such a negative environment overall. I was asked if I would be interested in having Wy in a few projects here and as much as I would love the money (hello college fund!) I just cant do it. But that is a PERSONAL preference.

I know it's not for everyone and I'm definitely not going to push Laney or make a big deal about it. DH and I have already talked about how we want to raise her and not let any of this (if it turns into anything) go to her head. If it is ever to stressful for her we will back at right then.

Okay, so I just don't get why anyone would do this. Why would you want to expose your poor kid to rejection based on looks, and at such a young age? It seems really AWish, like the parent needs affirmation from outsiders that their kid is cute.

I understand more with older kids who choose themselves to pursue an acting/modeling path, but a toddler?

ladybug no flaming! I think it is awesome and I support everyone who wants to do it. I just want people to know the ins and outs of agencies and such. I mean there are so many scammers out there. I thought that your post could get people thinking about wanting to look into it and not everyone has the access to amazing agencies like you

I just think it's fun. I don't think it's solely based on looks either. At our audition today there was a wide array of looks and they wanted her to do a specific thing (throw a spoon from the high chair) she didn't throw it very well so I'm sure they won't choose her- they will probably go with one of the older toddlers I saw who can follow directions better.

ladybug - I've talked to you about this before - but my friend who's kid got the hockey commercial was bald until she was 2. I did her head shots and she got the commercial when she was 9 months old (her 1st audition!) and looked more like a baby and hasn't gotten anything since :/ She has hair now but she isn't as easygoing and I think has a harder time at auditions. I feel mixed about the whole situation with them bc it doesn't seem like she even has fun at our headshot shoots and her parents just control her. Anyway, I just wanted to tell you that it should get easier to get stuff once her hair starts growing in!

Her little cousin got a superbowl ad (a cool one, actually - the "where do babies come from" KIA ad) recently.

Are they? We were approached a couple months ago, but I turned them down since I'm a full-time working mom and don't think I have the time to put in to make it work. If redheaded girls are in high demand, maybe I would think twice!

I am trying to google it - I actually read about it a few months ago on the blog of a children's fashion photographer but can't find it anywhere. She was saying that she is always looking for redheaded children to photograph (eps girls.)

Instead I found this - could be helpful! I also found a bunch of stuff about how sperm banks are rejecting ginger sperm! Ew. 

Redheads are adorable - I am biased since I have a gingey - but I definitely think so ; )

If my LO was biological, she would have brown hair and brown eyes. This hair/eyes combo is way better than anything our biology could have created!

Hee Max is the only one in our entire family with red hair - and H and I both have light eyes (mine are green and his are hazel) so we get a lot of comments about his coloring Mutant!

It is so weird that kids get certain traits from generations past. Those recessive genes are wacky!!!

I can understand why someone would do it on a limited basis. It isn't always based on looks, and I'm sure it could be helpful in teaching a child that looks aren't the most important part of life. I would never let my child become a full time model when they were older, but if we lived somewhere else, I might do it. I just don't think Ohio would have many opportunities.

I think the modeling industry is about the last place you should look to to teach your child that looks aren't the most important part of life. Perhaps try a less.... Looks focused industry first lol

Andrew has an agent and has had a couple of calls for print work. At this point, it's easy and noncommittal. He doesn't need to have professional head shots. They call and see if we're available/interested. If we are, sweet! If not, no worries. Everything was positive, he's made some money, and we've got some fun stories for when he's older. We've decided that we'll just keep reassessing at every stage to see if this still works for him and us.
