Last night DH discovered water had gotten in our basement. We've been using the finished part of the basement as storage/office, so there are boxes all along the walls. He noticed the rug was wet, and realized what had happened. I just pulled everything back and it's not good. One of our bookshelves is going to be trashed, some of Abby's old toys might be toast, not sure what else and there's mold in the carpet. I don't think it's black mold.
I guess I can be thankful we rent so we don't have to pay for the repairs? I suppose there's one good thing.
And Caleb was up for 2 hours last night, screaming for at least half of it.
Somehow I managed to oversleep by nearly an hour this morning. I thought it was way earlier than it was and was soooo confused as to why H was getting up and leaving so early.
Damn man won't wake me up either. He came up to say "bye", not "oh hey, you need to get up". Seriously, if I sleep too late, WAKE ME UP!!
Then he complained because he had to go into Owen 3 times last night (once was at 11, I'm sure he wasn't even up in bed yet). Boo hoo. You poor thing. Welcome to my life for the last year. I have no sympathy.
Oh man, would renters insurance cover the loss? I don't remember what all it covers besides theft and fire.
It's probably not worth more than the deductible, but it's worth a look. The most valuable thing would be the bookshelf, but it's annoying. I just realized it got into our old VHS tapes. That's more of a sentimental thing, since I couldn't figure out what to do with them all and didn't want to just toss them. At least now that decision's out of my hands.
I just hope maintenance is able to take care of the problem well. The construction of this place is pretty lousy and they seem to have skimped on repairs in the past.

In my research, I've heard that "that" black mold is more rare than the hype leads us to believe.
But its in all the TV shows! It must be true. Just like everyone falls in love at first sight, finds out they are pregnant by randomly puking, and water breaks in an embarassing way. Duh!
Oh no! That sucks! Hopefully it's nothing too bad. I was storing a bunch of stuff at my brother's house while I was on tour and his basement leaked. The only thing that was ruined beyond repair was my box of high school yearbooks.

Don't forget that when the water breaks, the baby is always coming right now!

We already lost one set of yearbooks at our old place. Fortunately we had two sets since we went to the same college. This time, I don't think it's too bad, except for the bookshelf, but now our basement is a mess. It was already a mess because I've got bins everywhere in preparation for a yard sale. Mostly, it's just annoying and I'm worried they won't fix it properly.

How's everyone else's Tuesday going?
That sucks. I hope it's not black mold
I'm pretty sure it's not. From what I read, black mold is more slimy, and this is just regular old mold. Still not good for asthmatics, though, so I look forward to when they take care of it.
