This is not an aw and I am NOT concerned about development. I'm just curious. Is my kid weird or is this sort of normal.
When Thad babbles to himself he babbles all kinds of consonants. Most of his "words" start with b (ball, baby, bye bye, be bo). When he talks "to" me he says "baa baa" in different inflections. If he hands me something he says "baa baaaaaaaa" like thank you. If he doesn't like something he says "BA!" Like no. If he asks for milk he says "baaaaa baaaaa?"
Is it weird to mimic inflection but not consonants?

Am I weird that I don't notice things like this in my kid? I just know that he blabbers a lot. I can't tell you a thing about consonants or inflection.
And I thought this was going to be another 69 post.

At our 15 month appointment she was more interested in inflections than word count. Micah will do something similar depending on the hour and what sound he is currently exploring. Gs are one of my favorite.

Henry does this, with G sounds. He will look at me all serious and "gibble gibble gabbles ga". It is quite adorable. It looks like he is telling me a long very important story.
Aiden does the same thing, but with D's. We joke that it's all about Dada. Well until he's hungry, then you hear MMmmmamama. I'll pretend he's saying mama.
Sounds similar to what Laney did/does. Overtime her words get better but some start out all kinds of crazy. Like right now she says "doh-doh" for cracker- and I will say "CRACK-er" and she says "DOH-doh" kind of like, duh mom! That's what I said! So I'm just waiting for it to start sounding more like cracker but I do make sure to keep calling it cracker and not dohdoh.
Mil is a speech therapist and said that repeating inflection and vowel sounds is great at this age!

Melody switches which letter she explores, but does try to mimic inflections.
I've noticed quite a change in her mimicing since we got here since the cadence of the language is so different. I'm curious to see what happens when we go home.
Today she was all about the "M" and repeating the Icelandic word for "hot" when we told he she couldn't touch a cup of coffee.
