My husband had a root canal last month, and he said the pain relief was almost instant. He had a crown that just wasn't working correctly, and dealt with the pain for nearly a year before he finally gave in and saw a different dentist for a second opinion (stubborn man). They recommended a root canal, and he said that it was so much better than the constant ache from the crown. You'll be alright.
Once you're off the meds they give you, if they give you any, you totally deserve a drink!

You are a tough chick!! Hang in there, relief is in sight!
Also, the second you're off that Lortab (THANK YOU FOR NOT SPELLING IT WRONG!) I think one of these is in order:  :drink: (or both, whatever suits your fancy).
Ugh. I still have to go back AGAIN. Apparently it was super infected and he didn't want to seal it up with it so bad. So now I'm on abx and he gave me tramadol, which I've never taken and am a bit afraid of, since the Lortab wasn't really touching the pain.

That's a bummer. Tramadol may be helpful because tooth pain is generally nerve pain. I know a lot about painkillers, and while I can't (obvs) give out medical advice, I'd say it's a good change. It's not really considered to be any "stronger" than Lortab, generally speaking, but it works in a different way and may be more helpful for you.
