I think they are starting to look less and less alike, but we still get asked all the time. Here are a couple pictures. 1st is when they were about a month (2 months?) old. 2nd is more recent. Sorry for the large images.
It's hard to saw. They look like they might have differently shaped heads, which to mean means not identical, but they look a LOT more similar than just brothers.
You guys are not helping!!! Ha! They were in 2 different sacs with a fused placenta. So, we don't really know. All the NICU docs, our pedi, and all the other pedis in the practice thought/think they are identical.
Its tough because Henry has always been about a pound smaller than Jack. But they have the same mannerisms and walk. sometimes I think they have slightly different noses, but no one else does.
why don't you do the cheek swab test to find out? I thought it was only a few hundred dollars.
I was going to do this a few months ago, but now I feel like its going to say they are fraternal. But so many people have been asking again, that I'm rethinking it
I think if I knew which one was which (like with The Olsens) I'd be able to tell them apart because they do have little differences. They're so cute though! And the size difference between them at first is crazy.
That's really interesting! I think I'd leave it as a cool family mystery and let the boys decide if they ever want ot find out for themselves later in life.
Ha! But then if curiosity got the best of me, I would have to secretly steal their straws or something and send them off to a lab without them knowing.
LOL okay 1) identical does not mean literally identical, so the little nuanced differences probably mean nothing. Marc has a weird ear and bigger head, and they look totally different to me, but they are definitely identical.
2) I think identical. I think structurally they are very similar and the fact that they look about the same size (height/weight) w/in a reasonable range [ETA now, I mean, not at birth] at least makes me think they are identical. Plus it's the little creepy things -- holding their feet the same way in that pic, for instance.
Have you ever noticed anything particularly "twin-y?" Sometimes M&G will move in sync or they used to cry in sync, and they will usually breathe in sync while sleeping. Similar circadian rhythms is another clue -- getting the same teeth close together -- etc.

Identical twins fascinate me!
One of the doctors I used to work closely with was an ID twin and he was sooo different than his brother (well, besides their identical appearance). One was a gay, super liberal, doctor and super fun guy and the other was a straight, super conservative, malpractice attorney who was a total jerk. And they grew up on a farm with little contact with other people outside of their immediate family until they started school. Fascinating!
ninjabridemom I know it doesn't mean totally identical But I see the same things you do. When they were itty bitty, everyone would comment "oh my gosh, they even sleep exactly the same way." They do so many things exactly alike. From how they sit, to the way they move in their sleep, to facial expressions, and teeth coming in the same.
Yes, they move in sync a lot. But that could just be because they are always together? I don't know! I'm seeing both options!
I'll put testing on my never ending to do list I'll report back as soon as I know.
Oh I was talking more to the other people who were like "But I see little differences!" I know you know and most people, too. I just had to mention b/c we've gotten the "are you sure they're identical" when they see Marc's ear and then his eye-droop.
The teeth coming in the same is a giveaway I think!!! I knew a mo-mo MoM whose kids got the same teeth to the day :-| M&G are w/in a week of each other. Whereas my frat nephews are totally different in how they teethed.

My sister and I are identical and we weren't the same size. I was 5 pounds, 7 ounces and she was 7 pounds, 2 ounces. Sometimes one baby takes the other baby's food, my sister had a stronger connection to the placenta than me.
I think identical. The mannerism mean more to me than appearance, but they look it, too. Yes there are slight differences, but even identical twins will have some differences. I'd get the test, I'd hate always wondering.
