So I have a low lying placenta, which they're hoping will move. My midwife says she's confident it will, which is reassuring, because I've been pretty worried about it. We're gonna schedule some u/s for my third tri soon to keep an eye on it.
Also, apparently, my little boy isn't so little. He's really big! She said according to my ultrasound, he's 97th percentile, and they're thinking he's much bigger than A was at birth, (she was 7lb 15ozs). I know it's not an exact science, but I'm nervous to have a 10lb kid, lol. But he's perfect, so that's all that matters.
However, because of my delivery with A, I might still have to have a c/s, which I'm praying isn't the case. (Background, A got stuck while I was pushing, so they didn't do a c/s then, but they did do a 4th degree episiotomy to get her out, and if he's bigger, they're afraid of trauma to him if I try to go vaginal) At my 32 week appointment, I think we're going to re-visit it with the OB. If my placenta moves up, then I have the option to go into labor naturally and attempt vaginal delivery, and if there's complications, do an emergency c/s. It's a lot to think about. I really wanted to go natural this time, but I guess we'll have to see what his size/placenta dictate.
But the good news is, I've gained 22.5 pounds, which is awesome for BF still. And my thyroid is great without meds.
I have a bigger little brother! He's got me by at least 3 inches and 75 lbs. Not-so-little brothers are awesome! Not sure about when he was born, though.

I've had a few friends whose placentas have moved up on their own so I hope that's the case! The c/s is a lot to think about but I'm sure you'll decide what's best for you and baby. I can't wait to see this little guy!!!
I'm glad your midwife seems confident that your placenta will move up! And good job on your weight gain and growing such a healthy, big boy! Try not to stress about the delivery, you still have plenty of time and things can change I'm so excited to see little Carter!
I hear ya! I haven't had an u/s since the 20 week a/s where he was measuring about a week ahead. At my last dr's appointment, I'd gained a total of 29 lbs (only gained 30 w/ C - a 9lb, 7 oz baby) and my belly was measuring 31 cm at 28 weeks. I'm terrified of the size of this child, but hoping he can't be much bigger than C...right???
Hopefully your placenta resolves itself, but I'm so glad your baby boy's doing perfectly, and you're still breastfeeding. You rock! I dried up around her 1st birthday despite my attempts to keep at it.

I'm glad you got mostly good news! Hopefully as you get a little closer to your due date, you will have more info to go off of as far as delivery options. Xoxo

First, yay for a healthy happy little guy. I hope the placenta moves so you don't have the decision made for you.
I think its a good thing that he is your second being that he is a big boy. Pushing out #2 was SO much easier than #1. (yes I realize the double meaning there hahaha).
I was deathly, DEATHLY, afraid of a c/s. Like, I would have nightmares leading up to L&D. Emmy got stuck and her heart rate kept dropping so I had one anyway. Let me tell you, I had an excellent experience. I was up and walking that day, the pain was managed just fine with meds (I went off Vicodin after 5 days and went to OTC Tylenol) and took her to the mall to walk around 10 days later. Granted, the mall was a short trip and I was sore afterward, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I know this isn't the case with all women but I am not at all afraid to have a repeat c/s. Good luck either way it goes!
Emerson Kate, born 38w5d on 4/6/12 at 6:02 p.m., 5 lbs 13 oz and 18 3/4 inches. Lucas Matthew, born 39w5d on 4/11/14 at 8:20 a.m., 7 lbs 4 oz and 20 inches.
Yay for a healthy baby! And I know a ten pound baby sounds, well, crazy, but as another 10lb+ mom it is possible to have a really normal delivery (and you don't even have to worry about tiny newborn wardrobe. Move him straight into the 3m stuff! :-) )

Also remember those baby measurements can be off by up to 25% I think! That's why my OB office never does them, too many people get scared by big measurements and choose unnecessary c sections.

Good job gaining weight! Hopefully their measurements are not completely accurate, and you can have the kind of birth you want. Either way you'll have a perfect little baby at the end of it.
Yay for healthy baby! Don't worry about the size if you can help it, they can be so far off! Also if you end up with c section, then you deal. You are dealing so amazingly with pregnancy and As sleep, you are going to rock this whether he exits through your v or your b!

Great for a healthy appointment!!
Lou was 9 lbs and I had to have a C. Do not worry over something you can't control. The baby is thriving and thats all that matters. If you need a C section, it will be ok! You will heal and the baby will be perfect.
I will tell you I had an episiotomy with Lin that was pretty gnarly, and tore along the line with Lily. I healed soooo much quicker with the tear then the cut, even though it was along the scar line. I hope your placenta moves!
Big baby boy! If it ends up in being a csection, it's totally not the end of the world. I had a rather easy recovery (I was vacuuming and doing laundry 4 days PP!) Whatever gets baby here You look absolutely fabulous and I am jealous of your beautiful pregnancy glow
Yay for your big baby boy and it sounds like everything is going really well! My BFF had a low placenta (placenta previa??) and it moved up on it's own. Hopefully that will happen for you too.
And holy moly I forgot about your 4th degree episiotomy! Do you have any lasting effects from it?
Hooray for perfect little (big) brothers!! This makes me so happy, cream:) I so hope you get to have the delivery you want, but either way I'm so glad that both he and you are healthy and growing. Much love!

You look fantastic in the pic from the appt. I'm glad to hear that things are just as great inside your awesome belly.
My placenta was also low and required a third tri ultrasound and all was well. It helped to to plow ahead with the mindset that I had my shot at the birth I hoped for until I was told otherwise, from pregnancy through pushing.
I'm sure you will make the best out of whatever birth options you are presented with.

But no wonder I'm so much bigger than A already!
I actually had all the above situations and then some - low lying placenta (by 20 wks it was fine and moved enough), big baby with (more importantly) a huge head that was off the charts, went into labor late (41.5 wks), prodormal labor, baby got stuck, and a c/s. I do hope you can have a natural birth but now that I've been there, even though I will try for a VBAC - a c/s is not that bad. I still had a great birth experience. Maybe bc it was all in my control and I am the one who wanted the C/S at the end (I couldn't push any more and was too exhausted after 3 hrs of pushing and being up for 72 hrs of labor) - I had midwives and that helped - but anyway, I am not traumatized from it and you don't have to be. I did hypnobabies and it relaxed me IMMENSELY. It was awesome, even though the result was not what I wanted, it was still great.
Big babies are awesome, btw. Max was a really mellow baby (until he got a bit older, that is - haha.)
Great news about your thyroid! Did you have hypothyroid?
