Just so you know, if you ever say this to a medical professional, they are laughing behind your back.    It doesn't work that way.

Typically, it isn't considered a fever until 100.4, no matter what your "normal" temp is.

No. I think 101 is a fever for an adult. I know that 100.4 is a fever for a child.

100.4 is considered the fever cutoff for children and adults. In the 99s, it's more likely to be a result of hypermetabolism than a true fever.

Doesn't mean you're not sick. Just means you don't have a fever.

For my body, yes, I would consider that a fever. I have a low normal body temperature. For a doctor to say so, probably not. However, like Chesire said just because you don't have a fever doesn't mean you're not sick.

I've felt worse than I have in a long time this week with a bad cold that went into my chest and my highest temp was 99.8. Sometimes you feel the worst without even having a a high fever. And furthermore, why are so many people coming down with the crud right now? Is it January already??

this is exactly me and ds. We run a bit cooler. so I would consider that low grade fever. Hope you feel better.

I think 101 is high to be a threshold for being sent home. I feel like crap long before I hit 101.

If you feel crappy at 99.8, I think it's a fever.

101 F or 38.6C is what I consider a fever. But I'm one of those dreaded medical professionals...
