I'm Team Green so the only things we added were basic white onesies (both long-sleeve and short-sleeve) since I figure that's what baby will wear for a while. I also added socks, mittens, and hats. That's it. I didn't add sleepers but that would be a good thing to add too - I was planning to buy a few basic sleepers myself but I've been gifted so many sleepers already, which surprises me as a Team Greener.
If anything, people might use the clothes on your registry as inspiration even if they don't actually buy the items you registered for, if that makes sense.

I haven't registered for any clothes, but I registered for some swaddles and A&A blankets.. I think people are going to buy whatever clothes they want to buy - I just hope they remember that shes' going to be born in January, not June... while it doesn't snow here, it will be cold for a baby to be just hanging out in short sleeves.

I put some swaddling blankets on there, but that's about it. I haven't put any clothing because I know that's what people tend to buy for showers.
The one thing I'm debating about putting on there are long-sleeved onesies, since the babies will be born at the start of winter.
I did have a friend w/ kids say to not worry about actual clothing because they will pretty much live in sleepers and onesies for a while. Which made me feel better.

This. I registered for a few outfits, just to give an idea. Also plain onsies, mittens, sleepers, and blankets. Surpringly I only got the blankets I registered for, nothing more! People either bought clothes, stuck to registry or gave gift cards. I do have another shower in two weeks so we'll see what happens then.
I would add a few blankets but not much clothing: onesies, hats, mittens (scratch ones) would be about it. I think people just grab clothes that they like and not really worry about a registry.

I'm just registering for long sleeved onesies (maybe a 5 pack?) and sleepers (probably at least 6). I might register for a couple pants to wear over the onesies. I know people will buy special outfits for him, but I'm not registering for them. Just the basics.
I pretty much plan to have my kid wear zip-up sleepers all the time in the beginning. pulling clothing over the baby's head is freaking me out for some reason. Zip up sounds so much better!
I'm definitely going to register for blankets. Probably 3 or 4 Aden&Anais. And like 2 more kinds, idk.
I just got some hand-me-down sleepers, sleep sacks, and swaddlers yesterday (3 or 4 of each), so I think I'll be good with the quantities listed above.

I registered for a few blankets, plus sleep devices like a Miracle Blanket and Halo sleep sack so I could (hopefully) try out a few different things.
I didn't register for much clothing, because I'm picky and wanted to discourage people from buying it for me. Then my MIL unloaded a never ending flood of pastel pink and floral, most of it in sizes totally not right for the season, so I put a few cute sleepers and onesies on my registry to give an idea of the style I like. I doubt it will keep my MIL from sending me Laura Ashley knock offs, but maybe it will spare me a few other outfits I hate.
should my registry have these things on it? i put some of the A&A blankets on there, but i always hear that people will buy whatever clothing/blankets/swaddles that they want, so is there really any point in me picking stuff out?
plus, i'm pretty overwhelmed with how much clothing i really need in the beginning. and what kinds for a winter baby. all the gear/etc. was pretty easy to research, but clothing is just AHHH. so many options and preferences.
help?
B lived in sleep-n-plays until he was a month old. We had about 12 of those. Then he was mainly in onesies and pants. I think I had, oh, a dozen pair each pants and tops, excluding the white undershirt kind, in both 0-3 and 3-6.
Plus maybe 2-3 adorable sweaters and sweater vests because HOW IS THIS NOT THE CUTEST THING EVER?!
ETA: B was born in early December, for timing sake.

:-# this is my biggest fear. i'm not a pink girl. i know we'll put her in some pink, but ughhh. the pink explosion is something i am dreading lol.
Yeah, it is really not my style at all. I got over feeling guilty about returning things pretty quickly.

Yeah, my MIL unleashed a large amount of pink and a large amount of animal print clothing. And not cute animal print, which it CAN be. We kept a couple of the pink things to put her in when MIL will be around and returned a lot of the other stuff.
I got one package of A&A blankets we registered for but mostly a ton of stuff we didn't register for. I think we received the entire carter's line that is out now along with every sports onesie available. I plan to return a good portion of it to get stuff we actually need.

Is anyone having a winter boy? I bought a bunch of hats for my son not thinking about the fact that it would be July in Texas when he was born. I'd be happy to send them, just pay shipping.

I am!
If you want them, just PM me with your info. I can try to take pictures tomorrow for you.
Like many others have said, I registered for some clothes that were my taste and my style, as inspiration if nothing else.
Two people actually bought pieces I registered for, and only my mom, sisters, MIL, and BFF paid any attention to my taste.
Everyone else bought me a shitton of clothes anyways. Many, many of which I did not care for, and I exchanged for things I needed. Bottles, diapers, blankets, towels, etc. I got so many clothes that even with the exchanges I can possibly hold off buying her clothes for 6 months at least.
You would think I'd be excited, but, no. haha *I* wanted to buy her clothes!!! No, but it's working out ok tho, every store I've had to do returns at has been so great about store credits. So far so good, but it literally took my sister and I alllllll day yesterday to do the bulk of them...and I still have some to do.
All of this to say, I think it's worth it on the off chance that someone actually thinks to buy what YOU like in terms of clothes, and if not, well, no harm done, nothing lost, you know??

Not the sports onesies because babywine is a girl, but, this is me too. And I had my sister drive me to the stores we needed to do returns at, and help me find the things I actually needed that were not purchased off my reg. If someone can drive you around, omg, I recommend!!! haha We were both exhausted by the end of the day, but had fun hanging out in the process. I bought her lunch as a thank you, and she helped me make good decisions.

I have already posted this before about expecting to have a big baby so I plan to return all of the newborn clothes since the weight says 5-8 lbs and although I received a lot of clothes I can't see getting through 6 months with what I have. I am picky and don't like clothes with words like "I love grandpa" or "Kiss me I'm cute." I told DH that I plan to return most of it but when we went through it he kept saying how adorable everything was so I decided to keep some for the house since it is his baby too and I don't want to say no to everything he likes. LOL
You are brave for doing it all in one day. I plan to start tonight but a little at a time because it seems overwhelming to carry 40+ items into the store at once to return.
I wouldn't, or that is all you will get. I received millions of outfits and blankets, and had only registered for onesies and like 2 blankets. I have an entire closet full of pink baby blankets.
sameoldash and geek96 yes, the "I'm sassy" or "My aunt is hot" crap...(no offense to anyone who likes that, sorry, just...so, so not my thing) and the fact that someone knows you don't like it and then goes out and gets it knowing you'll return it is just the weirdest thing ever too.
I don't like anything with writing on it, actually, or monkeys. Or animal patches on the butt...because yeah I want you staring at the pink zebra on my baby's ass...
I registered for no clothes and only a&a blankets.
I am SO picky with baby clothes that I knew I would end up returning most things anyway so I didn't see the point in spending the time to register for them.
I did mention clothing preferences to immediate family because some people asked and I knew other people (like my step-mother) would go crazy buying clothes and I didn't want anything ugly.
