I just killed a spider the size of my hand. MY HAND. It was downstairs and the cat was batting at it, which is how I noticed it.
I want to move to a land where there aren't any spiders. How do they get this big?! WHY?!
This is PA, our biggest spider is supposed to be the wolf spider. This thing could eat wolf spiders. I had to do a double take because it looked like something akin to a tarantula, only not as hairy.
It could have been a giant house spider (don't Google unless you're brave), which actually do eat wolf spiders. They're really, really good, as they're not venomous but they prey on a lot of dangerous insects and other breeds of spiders. But yeah, they're fucking terrifying. And they're fast. So, as much as I theoretically like to let them live, they still must die.
Yup. I Googled. It looks like that. Our basement is cement and dimly lit and we have water problems. Looks like I'm going to be spraying some insect/spider spray around.
I appreciate its efforts to eat the bad spiders, but this one looked like it's been noshing on everything.
You know, no matter how ugly a spider is. It's uglyness goes down 1/10th of a notch once I find out it isn't venomous. Not enough to let it live but it makes me feel a bit better.
We've lived here for just under 2 years. I saw the biggest wolf spider in my life in my kitchen in early fall last year, (I yelled to my H and he came running out of the bathroom WITHOUT PANTS, because of how scared I sounded) and the experience has scarred me. :-P I'm near Berks. I am terrified of spiders.

Want to ditch PA and move to spiderless land with me?
