I breast fed for 12 mos, have a semi-dirty house and we have 2 dogs. All of these were supposed to lower his chances of developing it. If he's going to have asthma, I want my pre- breast feeding boobs back.
Seriously poor kid though. It's awful to watch him. He is supposed to do a kids triathlon tomorrow. The dr gave him the ok to do it but dh and I decided if it gets to the run and he is struggling, then we will pull him. Or have him walk.
I'm curious to know how he was diagnosed and how old he is?
My daughter is still small (8 months old today) but exhibits some symptoms that I have read may indicate asthma in the future (has eczema, gets super wheezy when she has colds, etc). My husband had asthma as a child, but I have zero experience with it.
We also have a semi dirty house and a dog that sheds like crazy I didn't realize that was helping her out...although she is formula fed now
Ugh, that sucks. DS has it too, and he was BF for two years. My house is super clean though. LOL, in my dreams. We signed him up for cross country this year and hopefully he will do okay. He only gets really bad when he gets sick, and unfortunately it takes him a long time to kick even the most basic cold. Hang in there!
Sorry, we were driving to Shreveport for the race. DS is 8, anytime he gets sick it goes to his lungs. He has had a cough for well over a month, lost 7 pounds in a week and has been wheezing. Chest X-ray showed nothing. Dr figured out it was worse the more he swam so she thinks part of it is a chlorine reaction as well. I'm not sure where I read it but I KNOW I read somewhere that a super clean house was actually bad for asthma/allergies.
She prescribed a maintenance inhaler to be used once a day and also a rescue inhaler or just before exercise or if he is struggling.
If it's any consolation, the pregnancy itself probably did more damage to your boobs than the nursing. :-)
There is still hope that he'll grow out of it too. I was like that as a kid and thought I'd never be able to run without wheezing. Somewhere along the way I appear to have outgrown it.
