I've been training for age group tri nationals next weekend (olympic distance) so I thought this race would be a good sanity check.
Swim (1/4 mile): 10:43 I felt really good on the swim. I decided against wearing a wetsuit because it makes me feel like I'm suffocating and this helped my comfort level in the water a lot. Run up the beach and across the road and then into transition.
T1: 2:32 Seems about average
Bike (11 miles): 35:13 (18.7mph) Flat and fast course with very little wind. I have been killing myself to improve on the bike and wanted to ride this course between 17-18mph so I'm pretty happy with this.
T2: 1:04 Also seems about average
Run (5k): 25:08 (8:07 pace) This is actually faster than I've been running my local 5k race series runs so I'm pretty happy with this too.
Overall time 1:14:03. Definitely a PR for me! The only thing that I'm really disappointed about is that I STILL can't even beat half my age group in a local sprint tri - I was 8th out of 14. Now I really feel like I'm going to get killed next weekend in Milwaukee.
Hey, nice job!! I wish I could run 25:08 in a triathlon! Everything looks good. And, really, who cares if you get killed in Milwaukee. It's the experience that's important! Good luck!
Nice bike and run! I bet you could shave a little time off your T1, but great effort!
Some age groups are just really freaking competitive. Try not to get down about it. I usually place higher in terms of top however many % in women overall than my own age group
