You might experience bloating in your pelvic area - the dress looks like it *might* be forgiving with bloating but I don't know how tight you're altering the dress to be. If it's going to be tight, either hold off on altering or get thee some maternity Spanx.
With my first, I barely even had any bloat at 8 weeks, so I think I would have been fine to wear the dress as it was originally fitted. With my second, I was 6 weeks pregnant while a bridesmaid and didn't need any changes to the dress. I don't remember noticing my chest getting bigger until 10 weeks or so.
Still, it may be worth it to call and see if they can hold off on the alterations for a bit longer, just in case.
If it doesn't cause you a hassle or cost extra, I would probably tell them to hold off for a couple of weeks or be a bit more forgiving with the take-ins. In all likelihood you'd be able to make it work even if your body changed a little, but you might be more comfortable if it's not tight. I had gone up a cup size by 8 weeks and while I could squeeze in to all of my clothes, I wouldn't have wanted to wear a tight strapless dress for a long period of time if I could avoid it!
The waist seems high enough so that even if you bloat, it should still fit fine. I second the maternity Spanx idea, though, if you're worried.
I personally had a retroflexed uterus, so if I ever bloated, even I couldn't tell. I'll be 22 weeks on Thursday and still only really look pregnant after I eat, lol, so there's always a possibility of that for you, too!

You might have some bloating, but with the style of the dress you should be fine.
I'm going dress shopping in a month for a wedding I will be a bridesmaid in January...when I am 9 months pregnant...I am wondering how I will find a dress to fit me! LOL
I can't see the photo of the dress -- but expect that your boobs are going to be bigger, and you might be a little puffy. The boob thing has made a lot of my dresses too tight (or at least inappropriate to wear to a wedding or nice dinner).
The bloat is pretty crazy. That style of dress should be ok, but I think I'd wait a little bit to alter more if you can. As a side note, are you normally a drinker? I had several people guess when I was in my BFF's wedding a couple of weeks ago, even though I brought sparkling grape juice with the label taken off for the limo!
I didn't show until like, 18+ weeks, and even then it just looked like I had a big lunch. I didn't even have bloat really either. My boobs KILLED for most of the first tri though, but that didn't affect the way I dressed so much, it just really sucked haha.
I bet you're just fine, and you can always wear spanx underneath for bloat I suppose? My friend did this in her first trimester, and she didn't look like she needed them to me, but she said she felt better about it.
My only concern would be the bloating, I was pretty bloated at that point but I always get bloated even before my period. If it isn't typical of you, then I would think you would be fine.
I think you could probably get away with it and be find. I had sore boobs at 8 weeks, but no growth. And I wasn't really showing at that point, either. I think the waistline on it is high enough that if you do have some bloat, the dress would hide it well. That's great that they're so happy for you and you have a plan in place!
