I could totally do this I think. DH is always amazed at how much food I can get on my budget. He'll come home with one bag of groceries, because he just impulse buys whatever looks good, where as I'll have at least 4 bags because I roughly plan my menus and shop the sale flyers.
I am surprised though by how much grocery costs seem to vary regionally.
We end up spending more if we buy all at once b/c we inevitably need/want something that we didn't plan for in that month. Buying every week works so well for us. I'd be scared to try the monthly thing again!
I do think we need to reign in our BJs spending but maybe after potty training lol.
That is so amazing! A little basket of groceries is usually at least $30 for me, but the stores around me don't do sales or fliers.
Sidenote: I just had to google "flier or flyer." Another US/UK difference. I learned something new today!
I just went to the grocery store, filled a hand basket 75% with produce, a package of flour tortillas, a can of black beans, a small bag of dried black beans, a small round of Mexican cheese, a tub of yogurt for Zoe and 4 cups of yogurt for Patsy and spent $28. If I filled a cart to over full with groceries, I think I'd have a heart attack.

Fwiw I buy just about all store brand. I ring people up all the time that spend 100 dollars and fill up out bag. It all just depends on what you buy. Haha.
Do your Targets sell produce and meat? Mine doesn't sell much more food-wise than our nicest convenient stores do.
Mine doesn't have a huge selection but they do sell fresh produce, meat and some veggies. I could never do an entire shopping there though. Plus, I actually think their prices are more than our cheaper supermarket.

Some do some don't. The upgrade is called a pfresh store. It's not a regular target but its not a super target. Not all targets here have meat and produce. For instance my store does but dh's doesn't.
I've shopped around and we get the best deals at target. Harris teeter is ridiculously expensive, bilo is okay but you have to buy in huge quantities to get a good deal, food lion and aldi I find just have a bad selection and high prices compared to what I can save at target with our discounts.
I could do it on canned and boxed stuff but not with fish and meat and fruit and veggies which is 90 percent of what we get. we went today for 4 days worth bc we were away so not 7 days and spent only a little less than rhat and about a quarter of that food - jealous ans sad. we also are trying south beach again so nuts fish meats are expensive aNDboxes canned is less imo
