You might not HAVE to, but if you're testing early-ish it would give you the best chance of seeing a BFP.

It wasn't the case for me. When I got KU with X I took a blue dye test on 9DPO at like 7pm. I got a faint line but didn't believe it so I immediately peed in a cup and tested with a FRER. It was literally 10 minutes after I had just peed. I got a dark like right away. I was charting to I'm pretty certain I was 9DPO.

I didn't hold intentionally - I'm not sure how long it had been since I peed. I tested on a whim. I'm sure I hadn't been holding it for 4 hours.

Well, holding your pee would make the stuff in it more concentrated, however, by that same logic, what you said about just not drinking as much would sort of have the same effect, though not drinking as much would cause you to not have to pee as much, which would also cause the hormones to be more concentrated.

I think you want to see more yellow in the bowl.  More yellow = more concentrated = more likely to have a high enough concentration to trigger the BFP.

On my BFP day I held for 3 hours or so and tried not to drink very much. I think I had a coffee.

Yea, I got a BFN the day before my BFP but my pee was completely clear so I think that's why.

Then I feel like you got all the diluted pee out and undiluted was used for the second test. I think it's less about holding and more about not drinking too much. But now I'm just making shit up.

Hmm I wonder if you don't drink much AND hold your pee, if that would put too much "crap" into the urine? Though the hormones would be part of that crap.

In the year before we TTC I thought I was maybe pregnant 3 times and I always used FMU just b/c I was lazy, lol.
