Ha! That reminds me of a story on MM a while back when some crazy lady was ranting about the utility company terrorizing her child with a blackout (loss of power) because they refused to trim back the trees (or something). It was pure crazy--so it goes both ways.

Where they cutting nicely? I think the city subbed it out in my old neighborhood they straight up slaughtered the trees. It was hideous. Now, a couple of years later, several look half dead.

This is my biggest pet peeve! I hate it when they come in and butcher the trees. Here they do the 'v' cut so the wire goes in the open space... I've seen some places where they just top the trees

LOL, some people.... I go to great lengths to approach people in a considerate way, and smile a lot.
Today, I was part of an urban forestry tour in Toronto, with a group of arborists from all over the world. We were all standing on a street in a shopping district, looking at tree roots and sidewalk conflicts. Lots of passers-by were looking at us with obvious curiosity. I made a point to engage whomever I could and tell them who we were and why we were there. Most people responded very enthusiastically, and thanked us for our work and for caring for Canada's trees. But ONE GUY, he complained that trees in sidewalk planters get in the way of pedestrians during rush hour. I said to him "so, these trees cause problems". He goes "Yes". I nod and say "You need sidewalk access and the trees get in your way during rush hour". Again, he agrees. Then I ask him "What about the other 20 hours a day?" And then he realizes how ridiculous he sounds and REALLY starts spouting off. Some people...!
I keep wondering where everyone lives that they have these magical tree trimming fairies. I would LOVE a program like that where I live! I wonder what it would take to start one... luckily I live in a small town and when they do things they usually do them right.
