Oh, and I'm pretty sure you have to go backwards OVER a ladder (you can lay it flat to prevent injury). Then light three candles and dip your 3rd toe in the wax. Your luck should return within 4 business days. Unfortunately you have to wait out the weekend.
You guys are making this a bigger deal than it needs to be and causing an uproar was not my intent. I'm not that great at expressing myself well on here. I'm sorry I even brought this up.
I don't judge you at all! I totally have no idea what I would have done in the situation. I really don't. My main thought process after the fact would be to check ads though... You might find someone who posts that they have a missing black cat around the same area. It's a really sad situation, I know you feel awful and I also know you are a good person.
Sorry that happened. I hit a cat back in November and it really shook me up. I drive an Explorer and it ran right into the side. The tires missed it and it ran off into the woods so I had no way of knowing where it went or if it was ok. It was very upsetting.
I don't know what I would do in this situation. I just can't imagine. I'd be horrified to hit any animal but I'm not sure I'd pull over and give an uncollared possibly feral cat a burial or even touch him, I too would fear disease. I'm Also picturing all this in the dark and I'd be afraid to get out of my car in the dark probably, I don't know.
The passionate demand for a good burial of all animals, pet or not isn't something I relate to. I assume anyone with this kind of passion however would be a vegetarian/vegan. I guess I see pets as different to non-pets in this respect. Since I am willing to regularly eat animals that died for the sole purpose of my consumption, and wear them as shoes and handbags it would make little sense for me to feel the need to see a wild animal get the respect/emotion I would attach to the passing of cat or dog that was someone's pet.
I do feel bad for bugs that end up splattered on my windshield though. It must suck to be flying around and then just not exist anymore because they were flying at an unfortunate altitude.
Do any of you have the spring peepers that cover country roads in the spring? I remember being so traumatized as a teenager having to drive home and knowing I was squashing tons of teeny tiny toads. But they're literally all over the road - there's no way to avoid them.
Browneyedhunni I know your post came off differently than how you meant it - I'm sorry you hit the kitty and sorry you're feeling bad. On a back country road with not a lot of traffic I would stop to make sure he didn't have a color and couldn't be saved.

II'm sorry. Once I was driving to work and a bird came out of nowhere and it was flying so low that it hit the front of my car. I was on the highway so I couldn't stop and in my rear view mirror I could see feathers. It was awful. I cried and said a little prayer for his bird soul. It sucks that your post was taken the wrong way, you obviously meant no harm.
