How did you keep it from being annoying while working out? Mine is getting long enough that it is kind of like a wet mop hanging out of my Bondi Band (not to mention that Bondi Bands are only cute on like 3 people in the world), but it isn't long enough to make a pony tail, pig tails, etc. How do you restrain 3" long hair?

I can't. That's why I keep cutting it. ha
Not that my hair was as short as yours, but it was pretty short, and I swore I was going to grow it out. HAHA i made it about 10 weeks before I had to cut it. I think it's the shortest it's ever been right now.
ETA: reading fail. my hair is not restrained. it's a hot freaking mess unless styled.
I guess I need more hats. I can only exercise in a hat once before it needs to go in the washer. Especially thanks to our crazy humidity and anything and everything mildewing if it thinks it might have gotten damp.
I pulled the top into a half ponytail and wore a headband.
I think I still have a few months before I reach half ponytail length. I started from 1/4" buzz cut, so I am about 10 months into the process, but don't have a lot of hair to show for it.

Oh wow. What about a really wide headband?
I need to do a race so I can buy ALL the headbands and experiment with which one is best. The Bondi Band is pretty wide, but it isn't necessarily the right shape/stiffness to manage the mop of hair. There may be better options out there. I could try a different headband. I will probably get some more hats as well.
I usually just the my bangs back with bobby pins. Would that work?
I think it will in a month or two when I can tuck the "sides" of my hair behind my ears. Right now it style it tucked back behind my ears with the top pinned back, but it is just a bit too short, so it requires a lot of product to achieve that and it doesn't really stay put during a workout yet. I'm hopeful that it will soon!
No ideas really, but I wish you luck. I still have never found a headband I just love. I will keep my eyes open for online sales on wicking/lightweight hats for you!
I pull the sides of my hair up in a barrette. The back sort of goes into a miniscule ponytail. It all goes under my helmet. Sorry you can't pull it up yet.
I also like Bic Bands, but they are a little pricey.
I grew my hair out before all these fancy headbands were around and usually I would just do as much as I could into a pony tail then use clips like the metal snapping ones. Not sure what they are technically called.
Barrettes as well clipping back the very front part until it was long enough to pull back (went from very short pixie to chin/shoulder length right now). It was awkward looking, but probably no more so that I generally look working out.

I have a pixie cut with longer bangs, so I've been keeping them back either with sweaty bands or the thinner Bondi Bands that I scrunch up a bit. I tried a ponytail of what I could pull together on top of my head a la Pebbles tonight to see if it would work. I was glad I was running in the dark.
