I think some people are more germaphobic than others. I'm on the non-germaphobic side. I even open the bathroom door with my hands, not with a paper towel. I haven't gotten the plague yet.
As for the co-worker, I'd probably just say "Thanks," because she's getting a paper towel for you, and try to ignore the fact that she thinks you're teeming with bathroom cooties.
I don't think I've ever seen someone get the towel before washing. That seems weird to me. Of course, I just don't really worry about germs. I don't even own a bottle of anti bacterial anything.
The hilarity of this is that washing your hands in the bathroom sink (unless she is doing a full 2 minute surgeon scrub or something) is not exactly sterilizing your hands. Touching the paper towel handle is unlikely to make much difference.
Thanks to nursing school, I will never be able to wash my hands without having a paper towel ready to shut off the water again. Along with several other irritating steps. Haha. But being repeatedly judged by a coworker would be obnoxious for sure.

Wait, you say you wash your hands after her, so does this mean that she touches the paper towel dispenser with her freshly clean hands? Does she then have to wash them again? If not, what is the point of the whole exercise anyway?
I am not a germaphobe at all. I would probably not even realize she was doing this for my sanitation and would by now have laughed and said something about how she didn't always have to get me a paper towel even though it's nice of her.

This exactly! I don't think your cw judges you though. She wants to make sure you don't get the germies either. She cares, be thankful.
And yes, you may not be quite teeming with germs but other people are. I am surprised at how many adults think it's okay to use the toilet without washing their hands after. Gag.
