Feel like bitching about MIL

I never really bitch about her, because as much as she can annoy me at times, she is a good woman and generous with us. We are similar in a lot of ways and I really try and be patient with the little things that annoy me.
Maybe  because im a little on edge today, or maybe its because she's done it 2x's this week, I just want to reach my hand through the phone and smack her in the head!

I know it isn't a big deal, and I know it isn't harming anyone but she does this thing where she calls us to tell us its one of my H's nephews or brothers birthdays so we remember to call them and say HB.  Now normally I would appreciate this because I don't remember shit, BUT my kids don't get calls from anyone. Even she called the twins a day late last year! one of his brothers called me on my birthday.

Last time she called my H was speaking with her and when he turned and said its so and so's birthday my mom is just reminding us,,,,i told him to let her know that no one calls our kids or me on my birthday so why does she keep reminding us to do so? I heard him repeat it to her, but im sure she ignored it.

So, she just called and said to me its am's 18th bd. I said that's nice ill have your son call him. she knew I was annoyed and quickly hung-up.

Just needed to vent thanks and I  don't care if I sound like a baby!

Actually, my IL's do the same kind of thing.
1) Uh...we're all adults. And we have a calendar. We can figure it out on our own, no worries.
2) Pretty sure those people don't get reminders, because they don't call us.

It's worse in your case though, because it's for your kids. That sucks. I'm sorry.

I'd be annoyed too. And quite honestly - outside of my parents, I would be ANNOYED if people called me all day long to say happy birthday. I'm not a phone person, I don't need a ton of calls. That's what I love about the internet age. Love getting emails, FB messages, etc.

WHich makes me wonder- the people on the receiving end of all these calls (if they actually get them), do they WANT all these calls??

My former neighbor made her husband use his sick day on her birthday. Also, she got written up because she called in sick that day as well because no one would trade her shifts. Clearly the world should revolve around her, especially on her birthday. Duh.

No, that's annoying and would bug the shit out of me. If I want to wish someone happy birthday, I will. Don't pressure me!

As for why you or your children don't get happy birthday phone calls from the rest of the family... There's so many variables there. I don't even know where to start. I'd try not to take it personal.

Me too, I hate talking on the phone. It's probably just the MIL projecting what she wants on her birthday on everyone else in the family.
