This will probably seem silly to many of you, but Zoe has never fallen asleep on her own. I nurse her to sleep for every nap and every bed time, and she nurses every time she wakes up in the middle of the night. She'll fall asleep in the car, and, occasionally, in the stroller. Those are the only ways she falls asleep. I was messaging the woman whose children I'll be watching and noticed Zoe had been quiet for quite a while, so I went out into the living room to check on her. She was crashed out on the couch. She was in a pretty precarious position, so I scooped her up and put her in her bed. I've wondered how I'll ever wean, with her need to nurse to sleep, but maybe things are changing.
Aw, look at her! She must have been tuckered out! Edie can fall asleep on her own for naps and bed, but hasn't ever fallen asleep while playing, eating, etc.
We got home from the park about an hour and a half ago. A friend asked me to meet her there, so we took another shot at it today. There was much sliding and climbing to be done.
Except for in the car, occasionally in the wrap and once in the stroller, Caleb has never fallen asleep without a bottle. In fact, yesterday was the first time he's not needed formula and has taken just water. I feel your pain, but it's true, things may be looking up.
She's so pretty and peaceful in that picture! I hear you about wondering if middle of the night nursing back to sleep will ever end. At which point I'm sure I'll complain about missing the snuggles.
