I'm pretty much vent free, because I'm drinking AND we're leaving for vacation in Newport, RI tomorrow.
However, in the interest of playing along, I got an email from my SIL telling us to bring workout gear for outdoor boot camp. Sorry dude. I am mid-Smart Coach plan that has me doing 23 miles next week. Since I'm on vacation, my rest days will be true rest days. I replied back telling her that I thought that it was funny that her phone autocorrected "drinking" to "boot camp".

Have fun! We just got back from Newport, my only complaint was the traffic!
I'm sad for DH. His shins have been bothering him lately, & they got significantly worse ever since he got new shoes. I think they put him in much too aggressive of a stability shoe. I've been telling him to stop running through pain & go to the Dr, but he didn't listen to me. This week it finally got so bad he was limping. He went & got new shoes & he went to the Dr. They think maybe he tore something. We have a half next weekend in Roswell with another couple & when I got on our ipad, I saw that he had been looking at spectator information for Chicago. I'm just so bummed for him. I also feel guilty because I'm the one that convinced him to do this, & I was really enjoying us doing this together. Now he just feels disappointed & left out & it sucks.
I skipped my run this morning because I was too tired. I skipped it this afternoon because I was too tired. It's the first week of half training and I've already missed a run. Jeez. I need school to start.
It's a good thing I really want this job I'm applying for, because this application is a HUGE PAIN IN THE BUTT. Why do they need to know my undergrad GPA? They have my transcripts already anyway!!!! Also, my letter of interest is ONE LINE over one page and I'm already at 10 pt font. Annoying.

I skipped my swim today because I felt like junk. My kids have been sick all week, and it was one of those weeks that I felt like a terrible employee and a terrible mom because I couldn't give enough of myself to either. Anyway, I think I have what they have, but much milder so instead of swimming at lunch, I sat in my car for an hour. Swimming is "just" cross-training, and I have gotten all my runs in so far this week, but I am pretty sure I wouldn't have regretted swimming.
Ugh. Me too. I maybe slept 2 hours last night. I also had to pee 8 times last night. Normally when I can't sleep I move to our guest room but my in laws are in town and in there. That's a whole other vent on its own!
My team is doing a ride this morning. Last night I commented on FB that I would go. A few hours later, admin posted "flash flood warning for tomorrow, we'll see if it changes by tomorrow morning."
I woke up and checked the weather at 6. Warning in effect starting at 10 (we will still be riding), so I commented at 6 that I was going to pass. At 7:20'(we were supposed to meet at 7), I got a text asking if I was coming.
I'm feeling so guilty that they were waiting on me. The whole conversation was on that thread though - I thought I did enough by commenting there (I didn't know anyone else who was going).
Now I look like a flake.
And clseale - I'm so sorry about your H & your insomnia - no fun

I can't seem to get that third midweek run in before my long run. I'm great about the first two, but then my calf tightens up a little bit, so I rest it, and then life seems to take over. I've had no problems after long runs, probably because I stretch like crazy that day and the next. I think I need to talk to my PT next week about my training plan, and what he thinks would be best for me.
Thanks, kams. I'm just trying to keep him upbeat & positive right now, but I know how frustrating & sucky that feeling is. Technically, he could probably be off for a few weeks & manage to finish Chicago, but we'll see how things go. We're also both signed up for the Savannah full 4 weeks later. I'm hoping maybe if Chicago winds up being a wash, we can get him healed & possibly still do Savannah. If that's possible, I'll just stick by his side the entire time in Savannah, whereas in Chicago, I'll be pushing for a big PR. It could be fun for us to run his first together. Fingers crossed or a speedy recovery!
Sorry about your ride. Don't feel bad. You tried to be considerate & let them know. It happens.
hannahb, hope you get some rest soon! Insomnia & pregnancy cannot be fun.

Gosh - I think the Chicago pr for you and the savannah together sounds really, really good. Big hopes for a quick recovery. So sucky.

Mine is more of a confession. I found out two of my friends are running a marathon a month after mine. I may do it with them. It would be ok to do as a "fun run," right? I would just re-taper after the first one.
I wonder if only a truly deranged person would call 26.2 miles a fun run.
I was supposed to help reginaphalange move into her new place today but my kid was up all night with an, um... unpleasant illness, so we didn't get any sleep. Which means I slept until 9:45 this morning and missed my run, and missed helping her move. I feel like an ass. The good news is the kid seems better, but it better not be a catching sick. :/

Sounds like its time to go to an ENT. Feel better.
I have a "gentle alarm" that starts to wake me up half an hour before I should wake up. 3 times this week its woken me up half an hour too early. The first time I laughed it off, and continued on me day thinking if need be I could get a quick nap in the hospital waiting room. Now I'm just annoyed that I have been waking up before 4am, including today.

I know. But I'm afraid if I do that, they'll want to put tubes in. So the NP put me on a daily dose of Claritin until after the race to help dry it up and I'm following up with PCP. Once September 22nd is behind me, if I'm still having issues, I'll go to an ENT
No vents, H moved home last night! He has been on an out of town project for the last year. He should be around here for a little while. I am so happy he is home!

I had chronic ear infections as an adult and never had tubes. It turns out they were using the wrong medicine for what I had, T ENT prescribed Floxin otic. I had a hole in my eardrum and the previous medications didn't touch the infection. Only the Floxin worked.
I went to Fleet Feet the other night to get a new pair of running shoes (my parents got me a gc for my birthday)...and they didn't have the color I wanted in my size so I had to order them. And now I have to wait for them to come in not that it matters bc I'm not going to attempt running until weds at the earliest (j will be off so he can be on baby duty) but still. I am impatient and want my green Adrenalines NOW!
Holymothereffingshit. We are in the middle of what they are calling a 3 day heat wave. In the shade, we have a "feels like" temp of 108*. People were dropping like flies on our run. I was pretty sure I was going to yack up my last gel when I stopped for water at mile 15. Not from over exertion, but from the heat. Not cool, FL, not cool!!
I still managed an 8:35 pace for the 16 miles, but the water stops were liberal. I just needed to bitch about it & this seemed like a good place to do iit.

Erm, you should brag the shit out of this! That is ridiculously speedy for that kind of heat and humidity. Nicely done.
