Travel at that age was easy because they needed so little and diapers / formula could be purchased where ever you go. They eat, sleep, and poop anywhere so when you want to go somewhere you strap them on and go. The only thing that might really suck is jet lag and irregular infant sleeping patterns.

Agreed. Buy diapers as you go, do laundry and you will be fine. The baby is too young to need toys/books, the pack mule stage if traveling starts at about 9-10 months I'd say. And once he is over jet lag even the sleeping should be better (as good as it gets for that age anyway!) definitely go for it!
I usually only pack 4-5 outfits for each of us, then do laundry as needed. I bring as many diapers as I can fit into my bag, then just buy more as I go. I pay a premium to buy smaller packs at convenience stores (and diapers abroad seem more expensive as it is), but it frees me up to pare down my bag to a carry-on size.
I agree that this age has been one of the easiest for us because babies sleep so much of the time when they are young.
