Finally made it over to my LRS yesterday for a fitting -- I posted a few weeks ago about how I recently am back into running but am still running on a pair of Brooks Ghost I bought in 2008 (no number, they are the original Ghost model!). It was GREAT to be professionally fitted and I could tell instantly that the guy helping me really knew his stuff. He had me do a squat and then a squat standing on each leg, and asked if I had had an injury on my left leg, since he could see my left leg was weaker than my right. Well as a matter of fact, I partially tore my achilles tendon about 10 years ago, could that be it?
I wear a size 10 in normal shoes which apparently translates to an 11 or 12 in running shoes - they only had three different neutral models in stock big enough for my monster feet. I ended up sticking with the latest Ghost model (6) in a whopping size 12, plus insoles to prevent a slight collapse inward. Not pink but the colors are at least a step up from my current pair! And they have so much bounce!! So excited. Taking them out for a spin in a bit...
Im a size 11 in normal shoes, or as i call it, size sasquatch. I also wear an 11 in running shoes. Ive never needed to size up. Thats interesting youve sized up from 10 to 12... I hate that they dont make half sizes in womens over 10, im guessing thats why?

Honestly an 11.5 probably would've been perfect. When I jogged with the 11s down the block they felt fine but I could feel my toes were close to the end. I ran 4m today on the treadmill and I'm worried the left shoe is just a smidge too big. Will try lacing up tighter next time and see if it helps.

I wear an 11 normally and have to size up. To a Men's 10. :S No cute pink shoes for me.

I actually did at when i firstmstarted running, i didnt actually mind red or blue shoes. Then i was refit and realized a womens 11 fit me better. I was excited an inappropriate amount when i got,my first girly pair lol they were turquoise or something.

Sasquatches unite! Lol
I need a really wide toebox, so men's are a better fit to me. It gets annoying when they discontinue my shoes and I have to argue with the LRS people about pulling me men's shoes. Grrrrr.

Another member of team bigfoot here. I'm a Women's 10, but have super wide, flat feet and need a Men's 2E width. I bought my shoes in black and just got pink laces - it was my compromise since I can't have pink shoes
I'm also a 10 normal shoe, 11 running. When I first started running I needed a 10.5, then my next pair I needed an 11 (same shoe). I'm glad I'm not alone.
After last nights run I'm thinking I might need to go up further, which means a men's shoe for sure. My 2nd toe on one foot is developing a deep callous right on the tip that is tender and hurts. That has to mean it's rubbing, right? I don't want to go to ugly men's shoes!
On the plus side, as I've gotten better at running and strengthened my support muscles, I've been able to drop from super duper motion control clunkers to a stability approaching neutral plus shoe. So at least they aren't so much like bricks on my feet.
This thread is really making me question the pair of Brooks I bought yesterday in my normal shoe size (10). They feel fairly comfortable but a bit tight. I may go up a size through Zappos and compare. I'm just starting to try and run (C25K) and I feel a bit out of my element.

Other than them being brooks and running small, if you're only doing short runs, it may not be so bad. It's the long time on my feet (>30 minutes) and especially the heat that really makes my feet swell and the shoes be too small. That's a really hard thing to know in advance when trying on shoes in the store. I do always try to go try on after I've been running around on my feet all day to try to simulate the swelling.
Thanks pamela. I think I'm going to exchange them for the next size. While I am starting with short distances I want to build myself up and would prefer not to need new shoes right away if I succeed.
