We've been to Portugal during the holidays and it was awesome. We stuck to Lisbon and did a daytrip to Sintra - the weather was mild and sunny (mainly low 60s), nothing was too crowded (but everything was up and running) and Lisbon has a festive but laid back New Years Eve celebration with fireworks. We both agree it is one of our favorite vacations to date.
I've been to them so many times in Germany/Austria and I want something new.
Eh, there are other ones you could go to - Tallinn, Copehagen, Poland. I think we have talked about Lapland before (we want to take our kids in a couple of years) but do you think your kids are too old for that? It is so expensive that I almost wonder if it is worth the money.

DS1 is 8 but swears he saw santa 2 years ago in England.
It is the expense that is making me hold back on doing lapland. It is about 1000 GBP/pp to do it, but I've wanted to do it since before I had kids and I think this is the last year DS1 will enjoy it.
