How is your training going? It will be my 3rd marathon, but I'm behind in training. I run 3-4 mornings a week anywhere from 4-7 miles. My long runs have been inconsistent. This morning I did 10 miles (2nd double digit run in my training) and I should have been running 10+ mile long runs for the past 3 weeks.
Its been tough to fit in training ( I have 15 month old twins, work part time, and my H works long hours) but I have been able to get shorter morning runs done early and have had a babysitter come over a couple times for my long runs.
I'm nervous that this race will be tough. Any words of encouragement or advice? Thanks!
I lurked on the old site, and sometimes do here. I'm hoping one day, my life will be a little less chaotic and I can participate more
There are a handful of us running Chicago! VTcupcake posts a Marathon Monday thread every week, so you should join in on that.
My training has been going pretty well. I had a very encouraging 16 miler this weekend despite some brutal temps. I have the luxury of being selfish with my time though. It's just me & DH. I can't imagine how difficult it would be with young twins!
You still have time, you just need to focus and really get into it these last weeks. You have time to get the required distances in if you consistently build each weekend from this point forward. If you can manage some longer mid week runs too (8-10) I find those really help with overall endurance. If you can only get a few runs in, focus on quality runs. You can do it!
Not me, but my H and I are running a marathon that same w/e. He is only up to 13 in training (15 on tap for this w/e), so I don't think you are as behind as you think. There is still time, and even if you skip a few more long runs you can still be fine. Maybe not a PR, but that is okay! Good luck!
