Freedoms' Run 10/12, MCM 2 weeks later...Training week 4? I don't even know. It's going well though. I think the 12 week training plan was a great idea (vs. my usual 18)
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I switch things around a lot based on DH's schedule, but I have been getting all my runs in. I've shortened one or two runs by a mile b/c of time. I don't make that up.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Probably after marathon #2. I've done a marathon or two a year since then, so there isn't much denying it.
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? Good! Got all my runs in, did some hard strength work outs, and did some fun things with the kids (amusement park, hiking, pool) to finish out our summer.
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related I loved my last 5k. It was in the battlefields that the marathon goes through. So hilly, but awesome views and peaceful (well, when they don't have reenactment w/e's, lol) I can't wait to run more.
What marathon are you running? Twin Cities, October 6
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Week 11, nutrition-I am getting better about this. H is home this week, so we are making an effort to actually meal plan. Mentality-meh, I am nervous about doing the race, but I feel like my training has gone pretty well so far.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I have missed 1 training run. I chalked it up to a loss, I was having some shin pain and decided to take an unplanned rest day.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Probably after I ran my 2nd half. It was more of a "I really enjoy this" moment
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? Tough, I was travelling for an audit, which does not translate well for my training schedule. I was able to fit in my workouts, but it kind of sucked. Also, I keep chafing!!! I have been using chamois butter and it is not cutting it. Back to body glide I go. Highlights-I ran 15 miles and didn't want to die afterwards, so I thought that was pretty encouraging

Today is my 30th birthday That gives me 10 years to reach my IRONMAN goal! And in 5 years I can get out of that damn 18-34yo age bracket to BQ...how can a 34yo compete with an 18yo? ;-)
What marathon are you running? Chicago Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Starting week 10/18. Need to start eating better to gear for longer runs. Mentality-wise, freaking out because this weekend and next I have a 19mi and 20mi and I will be in NC for my brothers wedding...heat +hills + humidity + mosquitoes + i have no idea a safe long place to run = giving my unneccessary anxiety. I can handle my distance, but I need to start making my longer runs quality. I run alone, so it has been hard to push myself. My last 20 miler (of 3) I will be running the CARA Ready to Run 20 miler, which will be nice to run with a large pace group, but I'm having difficulty pushing myself to train for a BQ.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? This weekend was my cut back week.....I was hungover all day Sunday from my birthday party, so I think I am going to go run my 13mi today, even though that may fuck my whole week up.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? After my first half-marathon in 2009
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? was nice to be a step-back week. now time to step it UP!!
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related. Which soccer player are you drooling over today? My college soccer team lived in the dorm next to me and would play in the courtyard, shirtless. Yes.
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? week 4 of 12.
nutrition? well I'm currently eating a hot pocket and some potato salad for lunch. I know this will make everyone all, 'bitch please' but I'm having a hard time eating all the food I need. I have no runger whatsoever.
In general my attitude is poor.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I don't think I've straight up missed any workouts. I've had to short a couple runs because of time or split a longer mid week run, but other than that I've done pretty well.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? I have no idea
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? OK I guess. my long run was no beuno. I need a good long run dammit!
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related I have nothing. see poor attitude comment above.
I'm currently being held hostage in my own car as DH drives us back home from DC.
What marathon are you running? Chicago Marathon. Oct 13th.
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Ha! I just posted about being behind I did my first double digit long run this morning. I eat pretty healthy normally, so I'm not doing much differently there except hydrating more and attempting to eat more protein. Mentally, I could use some motivation
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I've missed a lot. I don't make them up, I just go on to the next one.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? I've been a soccer player/runner my whole life. I guess after my first half, years ago.
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? Missed my long run yesterday because I was a little hing over from seeing Jayz and JT on Saturday night. THats both a high and low point

happy birthday! FYI - i'm in NC and supposedly, this weekend will be NICE! Temps in the 70s! Which area of NC are you running. I have a 15 miler for Saturday
What marathon are you running? Chicago 10/13/13, RnR Savannah 11/9/13
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Week 8 of 16. So far everything is going well. The heat is starting to wear on me a bit, but I'm pushing through.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? Only one that I can think of. I was having a tough week last week. I set out for an easy 6 & my legs felt so heavy, so I decided to rest. Turned out to be a good idea, because the next day I killed a 10 mile MP run.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Probably after my 2nd marathon.
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? It was a good week. Tough because of the heat, but I managed some decent workouts. I had 6x800s at track & kept them all 3:27-3:31. Yesterday I had a strong 16 miles despite heat at what would only be about 25 sec slower than MP. I felt a little sick towards the end because of overheating, but what struck me was how great my legs still felt. Drop the temperature about 20* & I definitely could have kept on running.
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related I'm really enjoying sharing this with DH. I was pretty bummed this last week because of some injuries/issues he's having, but after resting this weekend, and doing the prescribed exercises, he's making great progress. I'm hopeful that his marathon can be salvaged.
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Just finished week 7 of 18. I had my 14 miler on Saturday with temps in the high 80s, high humidity and had to stop for fluid refills and a break in the shade! It was tough, mentally, on that run. Nutrition-wise, i think i've improved this training schedule over the past three others!
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I cut one midweek 6 miler to a 4 miler b/c of a cranky quad. Worth cutting and it felt better by end of the week.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Right after i signed up for my first half marathon. I was excited and terrified!
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? Just the heat/temp for the 14 miler
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related finishing my run and having a chocolate milk on our dock, soaking my legs in the cool lake!

I'll be in Charlotte this weekend, I did see high 70s which is nice. The wedding is in the mountains, so I am trying to get my 20mi done next Thursday before driving up so I dont have to worry about it over the weekend at all. What area are you in?

I live in a suburb of Charlotte - too bad, you could run around Lake Norman (hot) (and i could have company on a long run!)
What marathon are you running? Rt 66 marathon in Tulsa, OK, on Nov 24
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Today starts week 4. Training-wise, I think things are going well, but my right hamstring is bothering me. Nutrition-wise, I'm doing really well with tracking things in MFP and entering calories burned from my HRM to make sure that I replace what I burn. Mentality-wise, I'm excited, but a little worried that something might go wrong.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I am proud to be able to say that I have not missed any workouts yet. I have had to shuffle things a bit, but I knew it would happen ahead of time. For example, I am doing a 5K race on both Friday and Saturday this week, so I moved my long run to Thursday. I plan to race the Fri race, but just run the Sat one (it benefits families who lost children in the Moore tornado).
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Once my long runs started getting over 10 miles when training for my first marathon (I'm training for my 2nd now), I started to think of myself as a long-distance runner. It didn't really sink in until after I'd run the marathon and a few people started saying things about never wanting to run farther than a 5K.
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? My right hamstring started acting up on Friday. I'm being cautious with it, but (oddly) it tends to act up a bit when the weather changes. I initially pulled it in July 2012, but it would always act weird before snow storms over the winter. It took me a few months to catch on to the association. We have storms coming through this week, and it doesn't hurt while I run, so I think it's going to be ok.
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related I did 2 pull-ups on Friday after I finished a tough kickboxing class. I've never done one unassisted before; I didn't know I could even do one, let alone 2! I'd love to see how many I can do on fresh arms. I might try that tomorrow. Based on my trainer's reaction, the look of joy must have been evident on my face.

I live in a suburb of Charlotte - too bad, you could run around Lake Norman (hot) (and i could have company on a long run!)
aw man! yea my parents are in east charlotte/university area, so lake norman would be a hike. a friend here did her long run on the Greenway in Davidson when she was in town and marathon training last year, but davidson is too far. i could go to McAlpine and run that Greenway, but I heard some areas are a bit sketchy...I am a few minutes from Reedy Creek Park, but would have to make tons of laps around that place and it's gotten ghetto since I lived there.
What marathon are you running? Air Force Marathon 9/21
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? 6 weeks out - my confidence has taken a hit. I bombed my first attempt at 18 miles last week. I was sore all week and then had an awful 12 mile run sat.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I skipped my easy run yesterday due to being sore and hurting. I don't think I'll make it up. At this point I'm trying to make sure I am just sore and not injured.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact?Even though I bombed it, the fact that I did 18 miles was a huge accomplishment. I am proud of that because I never would have thought a year ago I'd be doing distances like that.
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? Bad week all around. My shorter runs we good, but I've just been extra sore all week.
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? Week 5, lots of ice cream, cautiously optomistic
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? Nope, though i decided im not quite ready for 5x a week. So ive cut back. Ill try again soon enough. Its the three days in a row thing that makes me nervous
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Probably during training for marathon #1
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? First double digit run, and my new swimming set up
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related I swim with a bunch of guys. Its really fun. *Blushing*

What marathon are you running? MCM 10/27
Where are you, training week-wise, nutrition-wise and mentality-wise about your marathon? I think this is week 7 of 17.
Nutrition-wise: like a couple of other people mentioned, I haven't been as hungry throughout the day as I would expect. It's weird. So if I have a big calorie deficit at the end of the day, I end up eating cupcakes. This probably isn't great in the long run, but it's working for now.
Mentally: I'm having a lot of self-doubt about my pacing goals. I have a half coming up in a few weeks, so I'll reassess after that.
Who has missed any workouts in your training plan? Did you try to make it up later or chalk it up as okay or a loss? I haven't missed any, but I've done some wrong (like I was supposed to run a particular pace and I didn't). I also switched things around to account for travel and vacation, so I have some extra rest days built in.
When was the first time you thought of yourself as a distance runner? Was it an aha moment or a realization after the fact? Probably after I ran my first marathon.
How was this past week? Any highlights or lowlights? I'm in a step-back week right now, so hopefully it will be pretty easy. I was happy about my long run last week, because although it was tough, I didn't feel like I was dying at the end. Last year I felt like I was dying on all of my runs that were 16+ miles.
Why are soccer players so dreamy? Le sigh. Tell us about your favorite moment in this round of training, run or not run related Nothing stands out right now, but I have a couple of shorter races in September that I'm looking forward to.
