Probably my favorite subject. There is so much information about what you should eat during pregnancy I am curious what everyone thinks. Is there anything you make sure to eat often? Anything recommended that you skip? My cholesterol was pretty high a few months ago (bad genes) so I started eating vegetarian for breakfast and lunch. I also switched to almond milk recently but have no aversion to cows milk either.
I am starving and getting ready to go to the grocery store so this is probably totally random.

First tri I was just trying to keep food in me so I ate whatever sounded and sat well. Now I make sure I eat enough vitamin rich veggies, protein, and complex carbs to keep me going through a day. Whish isn't too far off my normal diet. I do try to make sure I have plenty of fiber as that helps with the constipation. Other than that not really..
I avoid alcohol, I only drink 1 tea a day and switched to caffeine free diet Pepsi (because as soon as I got pregnant the caffeine stuff kept me awake all night. I heat up any deli meats, and I have never liked soft cheeses or seafood so I don't eat those.

I pretty much follow the guidelines my doctor gave me, which are typical: no alch, healthiest choices possible, no soft cheeses, take prenatals. I also opted to not drink coffee but that was my choice.
I am vegetarian and have found eating protein in the AM to be very beneficial to my nausea, and energy: eggs, greek yogurt, almond butter or peanut butter on english muffins, etc
I also try to drink more water than I think I need (this has gotten harder as I've gotten bigger, I don't know why) and I give in to small, usually controlled portions of my need for sweets during pregnancy because donuts and ice cream are amazing
I do try to prep healthy snacks so I reach for them before a brownie or something, and favs are hummus and carrots, nuts/raisins, apples, bananas, cheese and crackers, and fiber cereals. Almond milk is delicious! I normally drink 1% cow's milk but had a strong desire for 2% a while back, and that seemed to really satisfy me when I was in need of a boost. But almond milk is great and almonds are awesome for you!
Honestly, with the exception of no alch, coffee, or soft cheese, and the random increase in liking something sweet most days, (this is not normal for me!) this is how I typically eat anyhow.
