Hi, I was going to wait until next week to start posting as we are away camping at the moment so I am trying not to spend too much time on the Internet. Well, we will be camping tomorrow, right now we are staying at DH's aunt for the night and while I love the aunt the house smells of dogs and occasionally smoke, even though she goes outside to smoke. I am trying very hard to suck it up.
Anyway, I am posting now because I need advice/support. I found out on Sunday that I am expecting #2. We have been trying since May, but actually got pregnant on our second cycle. It was a crazy long cycle for me. My last AF was 21 June, so I am not sure of my due date. I suspect I must have ovulated around the time of my AF, making my due date 21 April, give or take a few days. Oh, and I am a South African living in the UK.
How are you/did you deal with your morning sickness? Especially when it's making you irritable and you are trying to hide your pregnancy. I am trying hard not to take it out on my 5 year old, but the kid never shuts up and I was stuck in a car with him for 7 hours yesterday. I have only been sick twice, since Sunday, but I don't remember being like this with DS. I am constantly nauseous. I have tried eating often (I have cereal bars hidden in the bedroom, lol), drinking lots of little sips of water, etc. so far the only thing that has helped is drinking a milkshake, but I can't keep doing that, I am already over weight.

Congrats! There are lots of tricks for ms no miracle cures though. Eat every hour, stay hydrated. I take zofran two times a day. Ginger helps, sucking on a peppermint helps, wearing sea bands. Other medications that help are Dramamine or unisom with vitamin b6.
Hi and congrats! Love having another ILer here :-) It's like a baby boom!!!
As for dating, I'm not sure how the NHS works, but I would think you could get in for a dating ultrasound. I have no idea how easy or difficult that would be -- but I guess you just start with your GP and go from there?
As for morning sickness, the key for me is eating lots of snacks. I try to eat a little bit as soon as I wake up (like, for my 3am trip to the toilet). I keep snacks by my bed -- I like crackers, dry cereal, or those 90-cal Special K cereal bars. If you let your stomach get too empty, then the m/s will get worse. Chances are what will sit well is what you are already feeding your 5-year-old for snacks -- yogurt (watch low-cal yogurts that might have artificial sweeteners), crackers, Cheerios, cut up fruits and veggies, cheese sticks, etc. Bland foods tend to work better for me anyway. I feel like I'm eating like I little kid :-)
Staying hydrated is good. I've been sipping Ginger Ale in the mornings. Also, sucking on sour-flavored hard candy seems to help (I'm blanking on names of sweets in the UK, but I think there are Jolly Ranchers or hard Life Savers here?). A lot of people swear by peppermint too.
Yay!! Congrats blushing! the other's advice is good. I also found that sipping original coke helped. and sucking on lemons when it got really bad.
I also ate terribly for the first trimester (mini candy bars and ice cream went down fairly easily and filled me up better than crackers and such), but I figured it was better than being sick all the time.
Congrats! Unfortunately, I couldn't hide my pregnancy from anyone I saw b/c I was too sick. People were gravely concerned for my health. Try the above MS suggestions. Sometimes it's worse for one baby than other, there's no rhyme or reason to it. If it gets really bad, get some Zofran from your doc (but beware, it causes horrible constipation).
Thanks Ladies. I am drinking about 3 litres of water a day at the moment and eating hourly. I got some sour patch kids this afternoon, but not sure that helped. I also got some mint and some ginger sweets from the health shop.
Would it be wrong to do a ticker for my suspected due date and change it once I had a dating scan?

Ticker away :-)
Mint and ginger sweets sound good. I hope they help!
I just wanted to add that hard cinnamon candy was all that worked against my MS. I had nausea 24/7 from 5.5-11.5 weeks, and the candy was the only thing that gave me temporary relief.
