How long after your lipo could you work out again? I'm not doing the same areas as you (just upper outer thighs) but I'm assuming recovery time is similar. My consult is a month away yet, and I can't find any info online about how long it will be before I can go back to the gym. Not sure if it matters, but I do mostly powerlifting and some light cardio.
I had (minor) lipo my outer thighs done a few years ago to even them out. The left thigh was a size bigger than the right. My PS said wait 2 weeks to do "light" workouts with full clearance at 4 weeks for his lipo patients. I didn't have to wear a compression garment on my thighs. (Disclaimer: I had a lot more than just this done and wound up off the bike for 4 months total that year b/c of it.)
I highly recommend the boards over at makemeheal.com for plastic surgery related info., even lurking will help you know what to expect.
Thanks, good to know. I can handle 2-4 weeks off. I'm having such a small area done, that I can't imagine it would be much more than that. And I have checked out the makemeheal boards, but really, a lot of those women should be visiting mental health professionals, not plastic surgeons.
oh and I just reread your reply. yeah, I have one upper thigh that carries more fat than the other too. That's primarily why I'm doing this. Just to even it out.

I'll agree with that. Still, there are some (ok, a few??) pretty rational people, and it can give you a good guide as to what to expect post op. To be honest, the thighs were easy. I had very little bruising and just a little bit of swelling.
I had lipo while I was already off for a knee injury (it wouldn't have been worth the time off from working out for me had I not already been sidelined with the knee). I was out for a total of six weeks after lipo but I think I could have resumed light exercise after four weeks. It has been four months, though, and I've just now (like, last week) been able to resume ab exercises without causing swelling.
I did go on long walks immediately after I had surgery. My surgeon was not thrilled with that so I quit telling him I was doing it. I don't think it caused any long term harm.
It think I had surgery in mid-February and I was ready to run a half marathon by the end of June, though, so it didn't take much time to ramp back up again. I feel like I'm still a bit slower but my endurance is totally back.
I want to add (and this is I'm sure flamable but whatever) to me it was the equivalent of getting a cavity filled. DH took me to the surgery center, I was put under, woke up two hours later in pain but with pain pills, DH took me home, pain lasted another 2 or 3 hours, and I felt pretty much totally normal by 5:00 that night. I was bandaged for a week (doctor took them off) and back at work immediately.
