So H and I both have great credit - like 800+ scores. We just put in an offer on a house and we are so excited.
I was messing around on mint today and I noticed that a credit card I never use has a balance of $80. I log into the bank acct to check it out, and WTF, I was charged $79 by amazon.com for my yearly prime membership on April 21. I don't even get ebills for this credit card, I think they have an old email address. Of course this is totally my fault.
So the first bill that I didn't see with the payment of $79 was a statement date of May 4th, with payment due by June 3rd. I of course missed that, and a second bill was dated June 5 with payment due by July 3. I paid the bill this morning.
Is this going to be reported as 30 days late to the credit bureaus? Did I totally fuck myself here?
I am deleting this credit card immediately from amazon.com, btw. I don't understand why they charged this card since my default card is my discover card in there.
I would contact Discover, explain the situation and ask if they can do anything to keep it off your credit report. I had the same thing happen and Capital One told me it wouldn't show up on my report after I explained the error and showed I'd never been late.
Contact the CC- tell them what happened. Most likely won't show up after you have explained everything. These things do happen and with your good track record it will show that your normally on time with your payments.

Agreed. If you explain what happened, I am sure they'd understand.
As others have suggested, contact the credit card company. This happened to me once and they took care of everything. After that, I set up auto payments for everything!
And GOOD LUCK with your house offer. I didn't know you were ready to buy!
OK I called Bank of America and they were super helpful. Apparently my account would not be considered 30 days late until July 3rd, because I missed the payment due June 3. I made the payment today so I am all set!
This happened to us recently also (CC we never used). We called and they took off the late fees (ours was 2 months late). Unfortunately DH's credit score took about a 60 point hit.
The moral for us was to set up AutoPay for all of our credit cards.

Here is the saddest part (or maybe best part?). We offered on a short sale so it might take a while to hear back. Our offer on this beautiful 3 bd home was only $20K more than we bought our condo for in 2005.

I'm glad to hear that you were able to get it straightened out.
And yay for putting in an offer! I hope you get the house!
