lawn chair, hahah. Sadly we've had those type of weddings in my family in the past. My aunt & uncle had cake & punch in the backyard of my grandparents house, and I'm sure they had people bring chairs since they are the cheap type that wouldn't pay for rentals. I was young so I don't remember the details other than getting yelled at for playing on the tractor in my nice dress.
Apparently this is becoming more common. Had I been able to reach everybody via FB (and knew how to do that) we probably would have also.
Invites are super expensive and we only had a $2k budget for an entire wedding. Luckily, I got creative and spent a lot of time making my own invites. I even made our own envelopes (hand cut and everything).

I have a head-scratcher FB event invitation myself. I am not sure what to make of it except that I responded "NOT GOING" since it just looked silly. The lady is pregnant with her 2nd kid and here is what the event info said:
Let’s help shower L with jewels before baby K arrives on the 25th! You can shop Li's trunk show by going to the link:
(link to some stelladot online store filled with jewelry)
Check out the Facebook event page daily for different specials and feature items. The event starts on June 17th and ends on the 25th.
Uhhh.... so I am supposed to buy jewelry (something not even related to having a new baby) for the pregnant mom and not myself? How would you take that message? I didn't understand it, but she's a friend-of-a-friend so I don't have any problems responding NO and forgetting about it. Just thought it was weird.
OPS you're way too nice. It's beyond silly and weird. Obviously, a baby shower is supposed to be about the baby and the greedy expectant mother is disgusting for thinking of her own wants instead of her baby's needs.
I made all my wedding invitations and saved a TON of money...total spent to invite over 100 guests? $30. And they looked great...people were asking me where I had them done at.
It's just straight up tacky to invite someone to an event like that via FB. No excuses.

This is unbelievable. I cannot believe how some rude some people are!

Agreed. We made our invites too bought the kits they sell and Michaels and printed them at home. Definately spent less then $50.
And I am certainly not going to the wedding. This is someone I went to HS with. I haven't seen/talked to her since HS and we weren't even all that close then. I'm wildly baffled by the fact that I got even a fb invite to the event.

We just bought half sheets of paper, designed our own, envelopes, rsvp cards and direction cards and spend $50 on 150 invitations. They looked really good too!
