I can't do more than a half a mile before it's painful.
My boss just called and told me that due to repaving, the closest place to park tomorrow is going to be almost 3/4 a mile away.
So I have to leave earlier than normal and because I walk so slow it's going to take me at least 15-20 minutes.
And then after work I have a baby shower (35 minutes away not in rush hour, rush hour means an extra 20 minutes). I have to get ready at work, and it was already going to be a rush to get ready (which I planned to do at work) and make it (although as a guest of honor I suppose the party can't start without me really, not that I want to be late), and now I have to walk back that far carrying my extra clothes, makeup, hair stuff and purse in 80 degree weather.

Ugh, that really sucks that you have to park so far away. I had the same issue at the end of my pregnancy. I remember when I wasn't sure whether I would make it through a grocery store trip without going into labor. I almost ditched my cart and ran out if the store. Hang in there!

Hm. Try have to have some kind of parking to accommodate handicapped employees, right? I would think you could be approved to park there, if it exists.

On the day of the shower, I'd take the day off if you at all possible.
What are you wearing when you walk? As unfashionable as it is, switching to sneakers for my long walks during my commute has made a huge positive difference. I assume you're wearing sneakers too but figure I'd ask.

I've started going to the grocery store that is a little more expensive because the parking lot & the store is smaller and I don't have to walk as far.

I will be wearing them for sure. I usually park really close so it's not a problem. I'm going to put them in my car tonight so I don't forget them.

Could you work from home that one day? I get that it's inconvenient as it's your last day, but they know you're pregnant and that it's your last day and they could've (should've) arranged something for people who can't make it 3/4 of a mile. That's too damn far to expect people to be walking. Maybe you should let your boss know that this is a problem and you can't walk that far and see if he comes up with some sort of a solution.
