Got my Wellness screening results. While everything else is great (good cholesterol, good glucose, good blood pressure), my BMI has a giant red exclamation point next to it.

I'm taking comfort in the fact that when the technician/nurse weighed me, she started with the 100 pound weight and was startled when she had to go up to the 150 pound weight. She gave me a once over with a puzzled look on her face.

BMI is stupid. I carry my weight a little (ok, a lot) differently than most people and have always weighed more than most people think, my BMI will never ever ever be in what is considered a healthy range. My body's not made that way, but I'm not completely unhealthy.
I checked this morning, my current BMI is 29 (one point from obese). Fuck BMI, he knows nothing.

I love all the hair pets.
I won't lie, I'd love to loose 20 pounds and be at my pre-pregnancy weight, but... I keep gaining and losing the same 10 pounds and right now I'm on the high side of that 10 pounds.

Starries, my BMI is about 29 right now, as well. I don't remember what your body type is, but I'm REALLY hippy and pear-shaped carry mine in hips and thighs. Good times.
20 pounds ago it was like 26.5. That's where I aim to be again...but it's still overweight. However, I looked damn good. F U, bmi.
I hate the reliance on BMI for "wellness." It was a faulty concept at the jump. I can see it being a small factor in determining health, but one size doesn't fit all. The human body is more complex than a simple math equation can account for. Where's kuus? She can provide more specifics as to why BMI is a giant turd.
BMI comes from a calculation life insurance companies did as part of their underwriting process. Somehow it got generalized. Then, more recently, they changed the ranges for what is considered overweight and obese. It's all bullshit.
My doctor doesn't discuss weight with me and doesn't talk to me about BMI. Thank goodness. I'm definitely overweight according to the BMI charts.

I can't remember the last time I actually looked at the number the scale said. I don't own one and I look straight up at the ceiling every time I go to the doctor. I don't need to know.
