So my goal is to do cardio at the gym 3-5x a week for 45-60 min. I've been doing that, and eating a lot healthier. I'm noticing some results, thankfully.
I bought some 8 lb dumbbells and I plan on adding this workout:
I'm doing the weights at home because I'm very self conscious about lifting weights at the gym. Anyway, do you think 3x a week is good for this? Or should I do more?
I would make sure to have a recovery day in between your strength workouts. I didn't look at the routine, but I really like the New Rule of Lifting for Women. I provides a nice routine that works out multiple body parts.
Don't be self conscious doing weights at the gym, you have every right to be there.
I would do the cardio 5 days a week. And on two of those days do only 30 minutes and then come home and do the arms. Then move up to 3 days a week when your arms no longer hurt too much between workouts

You want a day of rest in between working body parts. So I'm with Shauni. Start with 2 and move up to three when 2 doesn't seem to tax you too much. And liu? Get your ass in that weight room, woman! You have EVERY right to be there.
Can one of the trainers at the gym show you around the weight room? I know it can be intimidating if you don't know the machines and such...
