My realtor's name should be Shit-for-Brains.

I am livid.

Yesterday, Thor and I go to look at houses. We think we're seeing 5, but the Shit-for-Brians tells us one is rented (bummer) and the other isn't doing showings yet (weird, but ok). We look at the remaining three. Two are very nice and do-able, but we absolutely fell in love with one. There is stained glass, and skylights, and hardwood floors, and a 2 car garage, and a huge basement and attic, and a soaking tub and 2 ovens and a crazy range with burners AND a grill. It's impeccable, and we can afford it. It's on the higher end of our price range, but we can do it.

I'm all, "yes, let's put in an application," and then, for whatever reason, I think to remind Shit-for-Brains of our two cats. The two that I told her about on the phone the first time we talked, and the same two that I reminded her of when I emailed her my list of criteria. I'm met with a blank stare. Shit-for-Brains calls the listing agent. No dice on the felines.

I called the listing agents of the other properties we saw. NONE of them will accept cats. Yesterday was a complete and total waste of time.

Needless to say, I wrote Shit-for-Brains a terse email this morning. I have reached out to two other brokers who will now be aiding us in our search. And I'm seriously considering emailing Shit-for-Brains' boss. Is that crazy? It might be, but I'm furious. I took off of work. Thor was late for work. We were very clear on what we needed, and she totally screwed it up.

Oh! Not to mention, the other property we wanted to see that "wasn't doing showings?" I called the listing agent for that one, too. They WERE doing showings yesterday. In fact, they are renting to someone who saw it yesterday.

I'd probably send the manager an email explaining (in very nice terms) that your time is important and it is very unprofessional for dumb ass to have wasted it by showing you properties that were not going to work for you. Then I would ask for a referral to another agent.

Are you contracted with this agent? If not, I'd cut losses and find someone else

Not contracted. I have another lady from another company on the case for me, and a call into someone else, too.

Send the email to the boss and remind them that bad word of mouth does not reflect kindly on them as a whole!

Wow, I would be irate that I was shown homes that I could not even rent. I would work with someone else and send a email to the boss. It sounds like she could not even do the most basic of search requirements for you. Cats must be welcomed. I hope you find someone else to work with and a great place.

That sucks! I would definitely send a complaint to her boss. I hope you find something just as awesome that is pet-friendly!

That really sucks, GOZF. What a waste of time. Glad you are going with someone else. Hopefully these other people will do a better job.

The only advice is if you do send a letter to the boss, make sure to keep your tone neutral. I would offer the reasons why you are deciding not to work with shit for brains but you want to make this about shit for brains, not you. I know you are very eloquent so I have no doubt that you will make it sound good!
