Dress me for a networking event

I'm somewhat actively looking for jobs right now, and I'm planning on going to a networking event. I'm planning on breaking out one of my new pencil skirts (either in purple or green, haven't decided yet) but what should I wear on top? Think I need a blazer? Or do you think a dressy top would work? If anyone is super bored, feel free to PIP ideas for me.

I say the green skirt with a silky shirt and a navy blazer over that. I'm slightly obsessed with green and navy though.

What color blazers do you already have? May make it a little easier to help you figure something out.

Blazers - grey, black, khaki, grey (cotton), brown. Typing that out makes me realize how much I used to stick to boring colors....

Definitely a blazer! Unless you are in a creative field, I would wear the grey or black.

Do you think the green pencil skirt is too much? FWIW, it's not the neon green... it's a jade color.

I think a jade color skirt is fine!

I think a green skirt is fine, but I'm afraid the J.Crew skirt will get too wrinkly and make you look less pulled together.
