My chance for downs came back 1/210 when it should have been more like 1/700 for my age (29). So now they want me to come in for a level 2 ultrasound. I was scheduled for the A/S for next Friday the 23rd but now have to wait until sept 3rd instead. That's when we we are supposed to find out the gender so I'm so disappointed. I'm less worried about the risk because its still less than a 1% chance and I know there's a high rate of false positives but I'm seriously bummed about having to wait longer to find out the gender.
(((((hugs)))))) I'm sorry you're going through this. Waiting for the a/s sucks, but it sounds like hopefully you'll get some more answers at that time? Hopefully the time will pass quickly for you.
(BTW, sorry to threadjack, but DAMN that is some amazing weight loss! you totally rock and I am in awe of you!)
Which test did you get? There's a new generic test that's 99% accurate. Make sure you get that one. I got the Harmony test. Our doctor explained it to us like this -- most babies are born healthy and even a 1 in 10 chances still means you have a 90% chance of having a healthy baby.

I didn't have a level II u/s so I don't really know what it is, but maybe they can still take a look at the parts during that level II u/s?
Also, hugs. My chances for Down Syndrome came back at 1/104 which was high for someone my age too (31). I ended up deciding to get an amnio as it was the only certain way to find out for sure (everything else is only a screening with a margin of error), but I'm also someone who considered termination to be on the table depending on what the results were. Otherwise, the level II u/s will likely be enough for you. Just keep that <1% chance in mind - that's what I focused on and that's the only thing that helped me through the waiting game (somewhat...it still sucks to wait). Good luck!
You will know the gender soon enough (though it doesn't feel that way) and in the meantime you will get to see your LO again on that u/s, and that never gets old I promise. I hope the next appt gives you more accurate and positive results for the Downs, and that you can try not to stress until the 23rd.
And yeah, I agree with villain, you look freaking amazing! Impressive diligence there.

I agree with others that the chances are still small, though I think it's completely rational to be bummed about having to wait to find out the gender.
And Velar Fricative - a level II u/s is (from what I understand) just a higher-resolution ultrasound. My guess is they will probably be looking for things like a strong nasal bone, which is likely better distinguished on a level II u/s.

Yup. Among other things, like nuchal fold thickening, femur bone length to skull size ratio, or cardiac problems.
L2 u/s with the perinatologist is standard at my OB's practice for moms of AMA. So that's what my a/s was, flat out. They spent a lot of time with the nasal bone area, the heart, the skull, the neck.

I don't have anything to add but hope you get good news soon! I know it's frustrating, but you'll know the sex soon, and it's normal to be bummed about a delayed ultrasound.

Hey, we're almost gender reveal twins! My A/S is September 5th and we're due at about the same time. On the positive side of waiting - your A/S will be even more detailed and it will be even more certain that they get the gender correct.
I'm surprised some folks have the A/S so early - my doc said not before 19 weeks.
Hugs. I had a 1/9 chance of baby having Spina Bifida based on my maternal serum results. I have had 3 level 2 ultrasounds, and they have found absolutely nothing. Apparently, a lot of things can skew these results and give you false positives. I'm really sorry you have to go through this at all, it scared the shit out of me.
