Hagia Sofia is awesome and its comical to see where the Muslims tried to cover up all symbols of Christianity and failed. Let me put something together and email it to you. What hotel are you guys staying at?

The Blue Mosque continues to be one of the most incredible, breathtaking structures I've ever been inside. Photos do not do it justice. It practically sparkles.
I also enjoyed a tour of the Topkapi Palace. And of course the Grand Bazaar and the Spice Bazaar.

@publius I will speak to my MIL. She traveled to Istanbul plenty when H was an infant. I would like for you to arrange transportation from the airport no cabs.

I was thinking about just taking the metro since I'll have a kid in tow and no carseat.
I don't feel comfortable with you taking the Metro, not near the airport. Arrange a car service I am sure your husbands company is putting him at a nice place they can arrange something.
Also, how much are people on the flight going to hate me? Jr. and I are flying business class but the idea of traveling alone with a baby but without the ability to fully recline gives me hives.
Why can you not fully recline, because you will have the baby? Also the folks in Business Class will be fine. I have never-minded babies up there on long flights. That's what the free flowing Champagne and Noise cancelling headphones are for. Anyone who gives you the stank eye needs to SAT DOWN.

I'm talking about the seats in Economy. If I'm going to have to be potentially holding an infant for 10 hours with no one to pass him off to I better at least be able to do so while lying down.
Oh I am slow. Also you are going to have one of those seats to yourself right? If so no one should care. I find everyone is in their own world when the plane is set up like that.

This. DH goes to Istanbul on business a few times a year (I have yet to be able to join him) and he raves about the Blue Mosque.
I love Istanbul! The chora museum is a gem and the archaeological museum is well worth visiting. I would also try to get on a Bosphorus cruise. It's a great city.
