Am I wrong to assume that anything that will stretch during pregnancy has already been stretched?
I didn't do anything to prevent stretch marks with my first. I just lucked out and didn't get any. Am I being too cavalier expecting the same results this time?
Perhaps I should be slathering myself in cocoa butter and sending up a special offering to the stretch-mark gods this time around.

I got one at 39.5 weeks with my DD. That one just turned dark again and I got another one by this time week 27. Soooooo I would go in expecting you could get some, but be happily surprised if you don't! I started to show much much sooner this time.

From my understanding, it's sort of a crapshoot. Even the genetics thing. Both my mom and sister have terrible stretch marks. But they're also both a half foot shorter than I am with short torsos. I didn't have any with B because I'm 6' with a long torso, never got that big and B was an "average" size baby (he's made up for that, at least height wise).
However, second babies do tend to pop out earlier, faster and further since you lose that muscle tone. I would say I'm about 2-4 weeks "ahead" of where I was with B. So it's totally possible I could end up with stretch marks this time around because of that.

Interesting to hear everyone's experiences. I noticed my belly felt a little itchy yesterday and I was like, "hmm, maybe I should pay closer attention to my skin this time". It would be nice to luck out in the gene pool on at least ONE thing, lol.

This is so, so cruel to me.
OP, I hope you get lucky again with zero stretch marks ftw!

Ditto that each pregnancy is different.
In my case, I got lots of stretch marks with L. And I guess it did all the stretching it needed, cause I have no new ones this time. But, I'm also not as huge as I was with him. Definite crapshoot.
I had some the first time, but more this time. Definitely popped farther and faster, feeling at least 2 weeks ahead. I'm only at 36 weeks and I don't remember being this uncomfortable at 40.5.
