My SIL threw me a baby shower for H's family last night. She made this blanket (folded to show the back side and hide my last name). The really special thing (because its already pretty special) is that the dark blue fabric came from the bridesmaid dress she wore in our wedding.
Even H who really said nothing about the other gifts thought it was cool.
And on an unrelated note, I did wind up being able to park closer to work yesterday. I still had to walk a little bit, but probably only a 1/3 of what I thought I was going to have to.
That's a beautiful gift - and hooray for parking closer to work! Did you end up making it to the shower on time?
I did make it with time to spare. I was worried because for a while traffic wasn't moving, but turns out a car was blocking part of my lane. Once I got past that it was easy going.
How nice of her! I also love your baby's name! Very sweet.
Thanks!
Eleanor was the name of the road that my dad grew up and my grandparents lived on until my grandma moved out after my grandpa died when I was in high school. So while we are technically naming her after a road, it's more the memories behind the time and a way to honor them. I just feel like people are going to be all "You named her after a road?" At least it is a real name, and I love classic names.
Rose was dh's grandma's name.
I love that it has family significance, is a real name, isn't spelled crazy and is clearly a girl name (no wondering if it's a boy or girl)

I think that it's cool! You're honoring many people instead of just one, and it's a name that will grow with her.
