My friend does this (although not with tape, not sure I would want that in the microwave with my food) and it actually works really well. Popcorn comes out perfect and without that weird waxy fake butter coating.

I don't eat popcorn very often so I guess it just seems silly to me. I just spend $1.50 on the box of 3. 50 cents it totally worth it (to me) to not tape it up in a bag. I am not one who gets all wrapped about the chemicals and shit though either.

LOL. Today I spent $6 on a box of 10 100 calorie packs and was all "damn, this shit is expensive!"

The first time my husband popped corn like this I thought for sure he was going to burn the house down. It completely works, and what makes it even more frugal about it is that I buy a bag of cheap popcorn (store brand) and store it in an old peanut butter jar. None of that fancy jarred stuff for me. Oh and no scotch tape. I fold and tuck. Sheesh. Is that poster a Rockefellar?
FTR This is what my cabinet looks like. I clearly like to reuse containers. Klassy. Attachment Deleted
Nothing will ever be better than popcorn cooked on the stove! Microwave popcorn is shit!
My MIL made some awhile back and it was so.good. I've been meaning to make it but never have. David suddenly LOVES popcorn and I want to get away from the chemicals in microwave popcorn.

I do this all the time. 1/3 cup kernels in a paper bag with the top folded down a few times. I use the popcorn button. Then I put olive oil and sea salt on it. Delicious and not fake greasy tasting.
