/sigh
I've been working for a family-owned business doing administrative stuff for the past 2 months. The person I worked with exclusively was the owners daughter and she was literally the most miserable/moody/condescending person I've ever met. She didn't want office help to begin with and pretty much made work a hostile environment every day/wouldn't give me the information I needed to fulfill my position efficiently.
I didn't mind the work itself, but I loathed having to be trapped in a room with only her all day. I saw this coming from a mile away, but it still hurt because everyone else was really nice and seemed to like me. I hate how it looks on my résumé.
I have a phone interview on Monday to be an admin for a legal office and I interviewed for an additional retail position last night. Currently searching through job listings for anything else that looks promising. Uuuuugh.
That sucks but sounds like its for the better. You can always frame it as the family business dynamic didn't end up working out with an outsider from their end. Tell the future recruiter that you left on good terms with them ( and make sure any named references are anyone but the daughter). Working for small businesses can be really hard. People can be especially cruel and fickle in them.

If it was only 2 months I'd leave it off your résumé altogether. People know it can take a while to find a job; a gap on your résumé that's two months longer may look better than a two-month blip.
That sucks. I guess it was never going to get any better. Best to be out, right?
Pretty much how I felt but I still wanted to work there since it was FT and I'd qualify for benefits in a few months. Oh well!
Now along with job hunting I'm kinda toying with the idea of doing school PT this semester (original plan was to go back in the spring)....classes start next week so I better hurry and make up my mind!

+1
It sounds like going back to school and getting a different job are going to be much better for you in the long run. GL!
