I have T-Mobil, I've had them for over 10 years. I've never been really motivated to change providers as they all seem to have their pluses and minuses. My plan is unlimited everything.

I have AT&T and have had it since I've had a cell phone. I like it since I hardly get dropped calls, but I feel like this depends on which region of the country you live in. FI has Tmobile, and while the no-contract and monthly rates are good, his reception is god awful.
AT&T. I've been with cingular/ATT since I got my first cell phone, and never saw a reason to leave. So... I guess the reason why I'm with them is inertia.

I have Verizon and I like it. When is unlimited data going away? The last time I renewed my contract they said as long as you are already on an unlimited data plan they won't change it. Just for new customers.
Our most recent Verizon bill was $285 for 3 smartphones (2 grandfathered unlimited plans one 4G) and one standard plan. We have my parents on our plan and they pay 1/2.

Within this past year they've changed the rules so you can't be grandfathered in anymore. If I renew I won't have it.

yes. But I also get a 20% discount (on the main line only). They give different discounts for different companies. I think the 20 % was from when I worked for a Chrysler dealership.

Yeah I think I get a discount at some places too, just not sure which ones and how much.
H says Sprint uses cdma phones and not GSM phones and he wants GSM.
Hmmmm.

this is true. all that really means is that GSM phones have removable sim cards so you can change phones whenever you want, and that they work overseas. so if you plan to do either, definitely stick with GSM.
the other differences between the two will pretty much be nullified once LTE is rolled out everywhere.
Yup, those are the two reasons H wants to stick with GSM.
We have sprint. We've had sketchy service in Indiana, but otherwise it's been great. Decent price as well for two smart phones with unlimited everything. DH and I have thought about trying to switch to a non-major carrier to see if we can pay even less but I'm wary of service issues. We'll see.
We have AT&T. We just switched back. We tried tmobile bit the service sucked balls. Now we have 3 iPhones and one iPad sharing 6gigs of data with unlimited minutes and texts for $175.
We have AT&T. I have used them since I first got a cell phone, also back when it was Cingular. Same with H.
Why? I've never had any problems with them, we get great service, $30 unlimited data inc. text plan (grandfathered in) so never any overage charges for us, we get deals and promotions fairly often (like promotional gift cards a couple times a year issued by the AT&T store where we buy our phones)...

Net10. $45 a month for unlimited talk, text, and internet. So far, I love it and haven't had any issues. The setup could be tricky for non-tech people, but if you take your time it's not too bad. It runs off of the same towers as ATT and TMobile.
I was with ATT for 9 years. I never upgraded to a smartphone because I didn't want to spend that much monthly (by the time smartphone got big I was living alone and paying for internet, so I didn't need two internet bills). I paid $48 just for talk and text through ATT.
My husband uses Verizon, and I use AT&T. They both have good coverage for our area.
The two different companies are annoying, as is paying my dad for my part of the plan every month (not the paying him back part- the part where we use different banks, so I can't do a transfer, and I have to do a check or cash, which is a pain compared to paying bills online).
We were going to switch me to Verizon when my last contract was up (which would have been December, after we got married in July) so we were in the same plan, but then I killed my phone a few months before the contract was up, and I could do a free upgrade, which locked me in for another two years but was better than paying for the AT&T contract and a new Verizon contract at the same time.
As far as comparing the two plans, there isn't a huge difference, and as I said, the coverage is about the same in our area. When we're out of the area, sometimes my coverage is better and sometimes my husband's is better, so I'd definitely check that out.

There is a way to keep your unlimited data. You no longer stay under contract, so no more new every two, and you pay full price for your phone. But I kept unlimited data, text and talk plus insurance for $85 a month. I've been with Verizon over a decade. Because of grandfathering at places like AT&T and most of my family and friends using Verizon it was worth it to stay. However to make up for the cost of the phone I'll have to keep my current phone for four years to break even.
We are with simply because my H's parents use them for their work phones (they have their own business) and had 2 extra lines that they let us use. Its fine.
