My pharmacy is closed and this isn't an emerge t type of call so I lay out my medical needs to the ML masses.
The Urgent Care today switched me to a million new medications including new antibiotics. Do I finish my old antibiotics and take the new ones as well? I know you're supposed to take them until their finished but what about if they switch you entirely to a different kind?
Allergic to pennicillian and sulfa so my options are generally limited as what I can take. Im trying to avoid getting worse since and bit of a negative change they're admitting mr to the hospital.
Hey, me too! And anytime I've been switched to a different antibiotic mid-treatment, the idea was to discontinue the old meds and continue on with the new (until those run out). Did they give you a reason for switching? Could it be that the ones you were taking first weren't strong enough so you were switched to something more effective (that's happened to me in the past).

Not strong enough. I went from a mild pneumonia to a bronchial pneumonia and now I'm fearful I have the whooping cough after the previous posts. Im open to the worst case scenerio though because that's one of the things that make me crazy cakes.

Im on breathing treatments, steroids., an inhaler, cough medicine with codeine, cough pills, and the new antibiotic is Doxycycline.
I was on a Z pack which din't help. I got much more sick. Today was my second trip Urgent care. I saw my PCP on Wednesday. If I get worse Im being admitted to the hospital.

Yep, just switch to the Doxycycline. Just be careful as the tetracycline family of antibiotics have been known to cause joint pain/problems. So watch out for that (sorry, not trying to freak you out, just want you to be aware).

Thank you. I'm all teary and feverish but I appreciate you and ML more than I can ever say.

Yup, discard the old ones and take the new ones. That's what I was told to do when they prescribed a different AB after surgery on my ankle. Feel better!
